VS A340 pilot breathalysed at LHR: WRONGLY ACCUSED
Teletext are reporting a Virgin Atlantic flight crew member on board a/c at HRW was breathalysed and arrested Bailed to appear in Court in May.
(On board presumably to avoid the ' I was just reporting sick ' defence)

If guilty, then I hope he looses his license, permanently.
If guilty I hope he gets whatever help and support he needs to address any problem he has and gets back flying.

996 - try looking at the wider picture before making a rash statement the way you have. Whether you are crew or not I guess you must be squeeky clean and never ever had a drink 12 hours before work!! Hopefully this crew memeber will get support through the Company.
Sadly my partner lost his flying career through drink and know all too well what it can do to lives!!

'Presumably' not. When we're distressed and overcome by emotion, most of us are incapable of thinking rationally.
996 seems to have that problem even when not. Or perhaps some very sad alcohol-related event in his life means he can't now read a news item such as this without all the emotions flooding back.
Presumably you'd be as supportive of a drink driver who'd just mowed down a member of your family? Assuming he/she was "having difficulties" in his/her life?

Most officers at LHR are now armed, in which case the story probably isn't an exaggeration.
It may seem unnessesary to some, and I don't agree that is always needed. But armed police are responsible for the security of thier guns as well as a prisoner, and even the most responsible and seeming upstanding members of the public can, and have in the past played up.

I certainly hope that this was not a captain, if so he should damn well know better. That would mean that if he wasn't caught there would only be one suitable pilot to fly the a/c and how can you expect a captain or f/o to handle an Airbus A340-600 in an emergency by himself???

Hi, i'm looking for good viewing positions for airliners and the peak times for arrivals and departures of them at EGMC. B757-200 - If you were a pro, then you'd know it's not very difficult to handle a 346 by yourself.. That's because we all practice incapacitation in the sim
They're not difficult aeroplanes to operate/fly...... Different emergencies may make life difficult, but not impossible by any means.
If he is guilty of drink/flying then best of luck to being rehabbed!!
