Cabri G2

I just finished my type rating conversion on the Cabri and I loved it.

Some news :

Heli-Union's flight academy (France) had just bought two G2 equipped for day and night training.
Few days before, Swiss Helicopters had bought their third G2 in 18 months (the two first had flown more than 2000 Hrs).

With the Chinese and UK orders and few others, Guimbal has sold 10 aircraft in only two months.

Cabri Helicopters

Have been researching Cabri helicopters, they seem a fairly safe machine and found that there are a few starting to do commercial work in NZ. Anyone have any real flying experience in them??

topendtorque 9th Apr 2013 12:20

Very discerning, Earborn.

Lend me your ear, you've come to the right place.

Twenty pages of thrashing, trashing and crashing of Cabri.

Enjoy.

News for light external load operators :

Guimbal has released the cargo hook for the Cabri G2 after many months of testing (photo).

Structural integrity has been tested up to 900 kg.Tests have been made down to -25°C and up to 70°C. 800 cycles between 450 and 550 kg have been carried out. When mounted on the Cabri it is rated to lift 220Kg (485lbs).

Frontier Helicopters in NZ is the first to receive a new G2 with this hook and they don't bought it to customize their G2, they're doing external load work and they're also doing long line training in their flight school.

Hello sortitas,

As I have your permission, I will correct you :ouch:

The 220 kgs figure is absolutely realistic if you fly with a 4 years old girl as pilot and a 7 minutes flight time fuel. :E

More seriously, you're referring to the only maxi weight available until now : the maximum take-off weight with internal load (That you know by heart as you fly the G2 ;)) : 700 Kgs/ 1542 Lbs.

I don't have the officials figures but with the birth of the hooked G2 (Madam, it's a boy !), there is also now a maximum take-off weight with external load and (as it is the case for the others aircraft) it's higher.:ok:

fluffy5 17th Apr 2013 22:53

Well you would need somewhere put those large suitcases, while the 4 year old fly's....... :}
Good for schools,

Fluffy
