Hi Floppy Link,
Great pics above, just a quick question(s) if I may....(sorry if off topic) I noticed that all of the EC135's shown have the low skids and yet my local police support unit, G-SURY, has a high skid option, I guess for all the goodies packed in underneath.? My questions are, do you know why the low skid option was put onto G-SPHU? Could it have been for the inflatables or was it just the way it was configured from the factory? If I'm right, both are T2 models(?) Thanks in advance..... Jim :ok: .......................pic of G-SURY below :E http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ery/Surrey.jpg |
cptjim,
Yes, G-SURY and G-SPHU are both T2's To have the "mission pod" you have to have high skids. It could have been that the customer specified Floatation Gear, and the Pod is not approved with float gear fitted also. (You can have high skid gear with floats, because there are some Private machines in that configuration.) I do believe that the pod is a McAlpines Modification, and all the role equipment is all fitted at McAlpines, so if the pod is not required, all the gadgets have to live elsewhere! I do believe that the new South Wales machine will be the same. |

Helieng got the answer in one I think. Is TB from NZ still down your way? Some more from the heliport... Police 51 (spare) and Helimed 5, both operated by Bond http://www.espotlight.co.uk/RSnSA.jpg The NLB Bolkow, also operated by Bond http://www.espotlight.co.uk/JB105.jpg ...and its driver JB - currently languishing between employers with a broken leg. Get well soon Jon! http://www.espotlight.co.uk/JB.jpg Three more from the unidentified photographer on the West Coast...(pilot still wasn't me!) http://www.espotlight.co.uk/up1.jpg and http://www.espotlight.co.uk/up2.jpg and http://www.espotlight.co.uk/up3.jpg |

I was operating the Kent AAmb as a floater a month or so back when, on the way out of Kings College LS, I heard TB's unmistakable dulcet tones on Heathrow. |
