you have to 'run on' when landing, you can't bring it to a halt before touchdown

err, where does it say that?

he had to run it on as he didn’t know what occurred and still doesn’t know if it was engine tail rotor main rotor!

he had 23 seconds from the bang at 1000 to the ground to do a 180 auto over a busy town avoid ppl river buildings and pylons

hes done a bloody good job

Absolutely. The pilot did a cracking job, but the outcome was extremely unlucky.

It sounds like the pilot did an extremely good job. But for a lack of luck, unfortunately.

Noting the observation that the iPad could have been a factor in the passenger's demise, I would recommend that all pilots should have a secondary tether for anything that isn't firmly attached in an aircraft. If you take a car to a track day, you cannot go out with a GoPro etc unless it has a secondary tie down. I have a tie on my iPad, as a consequence of something that happened to me recently.

so it was the passengers iPad that he had on his knees, in the aircraft, not the pilots, the aircraft had its own iPad but passenger wanted to do nav via his own iPad for the log, and google earth overlay,

my friends life is absolutely ruined he’s heartbroken lost a lot of weight not sleeping, constant panic attacks
his son is now having counseling too, whether he will fly again I don’t know I hope he does
