Noting the observation that the iPad could have been a factor in the passenger's demise, I would recommend that all pilots should have a secondary tether for anything that isn't firmly attached in an aircraft. If you take a car to a track day, you cannot go out with a GoPro etc unless it has a secondary tie down. I have a tie on my iPad, as a consequence of something that happened to me recently.
so it was the passengers iPad that he had on his knees, in the aircraft, not the pilots, the aircraft had its own iPad but passenger wanted to do nav via his own iPad for the log, and google earth overlay,
my friends life is absolutely ruined he’s heartbroken lost a lot of weight not sleeping, constant panic attacks
his son is now having counseling too, whether he will fly again I don’t know I hope he does
