Get out the smelling salts. Call it a skill if it's so important to you but the five thousand hour pilot doesn't necessarily have any better judgement or skill than the low hour flight instructor that spends a lot of time at the airport. Nice try to lead me away with semantics from your original contention that pattern work is not real world flying. I'd like to put an end to that nonsense once and for all. Not only do you have to make good decisions, you have to teach someone while doing it.
