It looks like dynamic rollover, allegedly during hover training, with cabin mostly intact. Doesn't look like fatal crash. Maybe medical condition caused the crash?

There have been fatals before in dynamic rollovers - I seem to remember one in Australia where a JetRanger rolled, and the pilot banged their head hard enough on the aircraft structure to cause fatal injuries.

The broom cupboard can be a killer, same happened to a S-76 pilot. Helmets

AAIB aren't listing it as a fatal accident. Accidental rollover in the hover is the title

The AAIB have changed the information.
Initially it was an accident whilst hovering, then it changed to a fatal accident, then changed back to an accident whilst hovering.

Interesting. My understanding was that the instructor did very sadly pass in hospital 2 weeks after the event? Second hand information though…

Was it two weeks? The definition of fatal accident is death up to 30 days after the accident. Or, maybe they died of an unrelated cause?

If a head injury is received death can occur quite some time later.

The S-76 occurrence I mentioned above the aircraft came came to rest on its left side, the captain was able to exit and helped the attending folk get the trapped FO out of the left seat. Nothing was noted wrong with captain until he dropped dead 45 minutes after the crash.

Wear a helmet guys, your fixed wing friends might think you're a pussy, but they don't fly an aircraft with a broom cupboard to slam your head against, or run the risk of having a rotor blade wanting to share cockpit space with you.

Natasha Richardson - actress (wife of Liam Neeson) fell over sideways while stationary on skis and hit her head on compacted snow. Shrugged it off as embarrassing but nothing serious. Declined medical assistance. Started getting headaches and became confused and slurring after a few hours. Brain dead within two days.

Certainly one long term Director (SB) resigned as of 31/3/25, according to Companies House.

There has been a general exodus of many senior positions. Ground Ops Manager. Head of Training. Ground School Lecturers. Several Instructors.
