If you have let the Certificate expire then you have to comply with Part 61.199 which won’t be easy if even at all possible to do in the UK.
If it hasn’t expired ( 61.197 ) then just do an online FIRC and pay the extra on top for the course provider to submit your application and await your new certificate to be posted out by the FAA
The best tip for anyone with a FAA instructor certificate is to never let it expire !!!
VFR. ( EASA FI, FAA CFI, CFII, MEI )

Yup, online FIRCs work pretty well. I used them many times and it keeps me to a certain degree up to date.
AOPA has a helicopter FIRC as has King Schools. The others are fixed wing but work, too.
I prefere the AOPA course. Having used others over the years, I find it the most entertaining or least boring, but it helps to use others once in a while.

$99.00 for life and they will do the paperwork for you. I have had no problems when I renew.
