These mind boggling modern computerised helicopters, we never had any issues like this to deal with in the old days doing single engine training in the 212.
Had the same thoughts last week as I was being briefed by another OEM that for Cat A Helipad training in their aircraft you needed to factor the times by 14 to record against component life! That's very expensive training.....

Well, depends on the manufacuter and the solution for the training mode.
Airbus H145T2 i.e. integrates a yaw-Motion - shows the indications for an engine failure with added T in a triange for information about the training-mode on all MFD - but really has both engine runnings!
You can droop the Nr to train that with 30 sec / 2 min powersetting (mostly not needed - just jumping in the sky at Vtoss )
I you spoil the flightprofile the trainingmode gets canceled and both engines jump into action to recover the Nr - but with a buffer before recording overlimits.
With that system you can train OEI before and after TDP/LDP and in flight with the real machine in the flying theatre you´re working at without stressing the machine - or the instructor ;-)
And with that system you reduce the risk of overlimits, wrong or late switching to recover and so on and you don´t need a simulator.

If AW takes a differnt approach to OEi-Training - well.....

In the 139 is exactly the same with the difference that there is no 30 sec rating but only the 2.5'.
