A quick heads up for anyone interested

It's at Landmead Airstrip, Nr. Abingdon Oxfordshire

A dozen Rotorway helicopters are expected to fly-in, and any other helicopter is welcome too !

Rotorway sage John Jackson will be attending and may be able to offer demo flights...

Drive along is fine also

Scheduled for Sat 22nd Aug, but with Sun 23rd as a back-up should Sat's Wx scupper plans

12 out 16 UK registered registered with permits,
Well, I'm fascinated to read that! I read the website of an Engineer in Kent, IIRC, who extensively reworked his kit, particularly the fibreglass mouldings and had issues with the CAA insisted on windows being rivetted as well as the Sikaflex he used instead of mastic.....( Sikaflex will make a bond far stronger than the items being joined) At that time, it had to pass a whol;e battery of inspections, certifications and so-on. I really thought there were only a couple in the UK. (note to self, catch up on the Rotorway story)....Ahh, It's coming back! They were in the throes of making a fully -certified machine as well as the Exec. kits (experimental)....perhaps that is now a reality and has swelled UK numbers.?

Costs and performance comparison

Can I ask, how do Rotorway costs and performance stats compare to an R22, roughly, assuming say 100 hours per year, UK based....?
Thanks all.

Plank Cap

I was chatting to one of the owners at the fly-in and he mentioned that his last year's flying had cost him £5k all-in. Insurance, hangarage, CAA fees, maintenance and fuel all included. He's had to have a couple of larger component changes too. That said, he's only done 25 hours so that's £200 an hour. If he'd done more hours, the hourly costs would be well down on that when you consider that fuel is only about £40 an hour.

Maybe Parasite Drag could give you his first hand experience?
