Shirley the MPAS fixed wing wing will only be operating in VMC anyway won't it?
Are 'they' expecting the crews to regularly operate out of a base that is IMC, transit IFR to the VMC operating area, do the job VFR then recover back to the IMC base under IFR for an ILS once the job is jobbed, they've floated around for a few hours and the bladder bags are full?
Police aviation is a day/night VMC public transport operation, no matter what the platform, so if we manage it with rotary wing wing now without all the gizmos and cover, why do the fixed wing wing need it so badly?
I have 40 hours Chipmunk T10 ... so I know what I'm talking about

Forty, Doncaster Airport used to be Finningley which would also make it a former RAF airfield in Yorkshire
In fact I think it also used to be an RFC airfield in days gone by

Sid,
I know that and you know that - Cabby's "Friend" in the airport world took a guess and got a different answer.
Does my 45 hours Chipmunk T10 mean I know more or just that I took longer to 1st Solo?

Elstree was known about for at least 6 months before it was officially announced

Woowooneenor;
Well my apologies for posting about an NPAS job in the NPAS thread (Facepalm)

I've said nothing about an NPAS job being posted in the NPAS thread, just about you claiming that it is hot off the press
Anyway, if you're so precious about NPAS jobs being in the NPAS thread, why didn't you bring to our attention the other NPAS job advertised on the same page that you linked to?

How very high and mighty you are !
Perhaps you should have been more specific in your retaliatory post then
We're all in this together, regardless of pay scale you snob!
Woowooneenor
The other job being an 18k admin role???
I figured the pilot role was more suited to the audience on this site

actually flabbergasted by your response. How rude. I only tried to share a job that I thought might interest people.
Do you ever post things that aren't mocking people or putting them down?
I thought this was a place for sharing information / rumours???
Shan't bother next time...

Come on SS, this is no way to treat a relative newbie to pprune, who was obviously trying to post something relevant on a pilot forum, rather than an Admin one! It would be gracious, therefore, to accept the initial apology, rather than wade in like a bull in the proverbial china shop.
I thought I glimpsed an apposite post a little earlier, that seems to have been removed, so won't repeat it, though concur with the sentiment

zorab - The post that you spotted may have been mine, it was something along the lines of "Don't worry WWNN, Sid can ever so occasionally appear to be just a tiny bit grumpy."
I removed it not because I felt it unfair to Sid but because he was doing a much better job of proving the point than I.
WWNN, please do continue to bother posting, I am sure that many find your posts of interest and would wish to extend a welcome to a fairly new poster.

So,
Woowooneenor, a member of over four years and well aware of this thread and the ways herein, having initially posted on the previous thread on this topic; makes a post declaring a 'hot off the press' announcement. I highlight that it has already been posted four hours previously, after all, we are told to make sure that what we post isn't already posted.
The not so newbie Woo comes back in true prune fashion, (those years of lurking appear to have paid off), however gets upset on having a reply indicating that my post wasn't about the job advert, but about the 'hot off the press' statement.
Woo then belittles the other NPAS job advertised due to the salary to which I call him/her a snob, after all, I thought that we are all supposed to be on the same side regardless of pay scale!
I then get insulted directly by a third party, using my real name … and it's me that is called grumpy.
Hey Ho!
Snow White still loves me.

Re: WooWooner etc
SS - while you've often proved very good at rooting out minutiae; highlighting the ridiculous; adding amusements etc, you also have the ability to show some true defensive colours from time to time, possibly leading others to regard you in a less professional manner than the light in which you appear to see yourself. This does not always reflect well on our profession . . . or this forum.
I'd offer that an occasional dose of humility might show your softer side, as none of us are right all the time, however much time we spend reading or posting inanities on this forum. A small swig of CRM(pprune) juice might taste sweeter than you think, and also ease offensive passages

'A less professional manner' ... on an Internet rumour forum, in particular on an internet thread where the truth cannot be told, outstanding!
CRM - So, if someone in the cockpit says that their approach chart is the most up to date, when you know a more up to date is in your folder, would you keep quiet? Of course you wouldn't.
Much the same way that we were told that here is some information hot off the press, which it wasn't, and a better link with more information was available on a different thread and I mentioned it.
Please indicate my offensive passage, as far as I can see, my ...
1. Saying to someone that their "Your hot off the press' post, isn't.
2. Asking why an admin job wasn't highlighted.
3. Complaining that someone turns their nose up at those lesser paid than them.
... aren't offensive posts.
Anyway, do you have any comment on the Almondsbury meeting or are you continuing to not read posts and staying on the old bandwagon
