Alouette 2
I am living in France, and some Alouette 2 are still flying, depending of remaining time on each component you are looking for, My nearby friend owns one, and tries to sell it.
I have a long career on Alouette 313 and 318, and to maintain it is not an easy thing , but this machine is very safe and powerful, but greedy in fuel.
Any question don't hesitate.
regards
alain

I have an SE313B Alouette II, HA-IDL, in Army green.
Enstrom Pilot's Sud-Est SE3130 Alouette II HA-IDL as seen at Goodwood on 15th October 2006 (Photo: Andrew Scott)
And very nice she looks too EP! Bravo!
Eric: Looks like you're off to Eastbourne to do some photocopying! You should take VFR440 with you as he wanted to check-out a prospective instructional airframe.
EP: Do you think there is a market to offer your craft for hire with an instructor so that those wishing to encounter something a little different could come drive her around for a couple of hours? Ie. an 'Alouette Experience"!

alooette to trail fly
hi
Savoia
nice Idea, I am sure other pilots would be pleased to fly an hr or two, spread the word !
Instructors are few and far between - it MAY be possible for somebody like Tim Price to do so - he is local (ish) to me (has an FAA instructor ticket so may be OK ?) - or Loen Smith at Booker
If trail flight is considered 'instruction' may need a TRTO (or EASA Equivalent )?
As Ha-IDL (313b) is Annex II there may be issues on training in non EASA aircraft ???
But I do have HA-WKS and HA-WKZ - both EASA 318c (later version) that could serve. All have great hrs remaining and fully serviceable (of course).
keeping all 3 machine serviceable is a bit silly for just my personal flying, its a long story how it happened, may sell one, but not very committed to do so.
I would be more than happy for others to experience the machine, costs could be modest
Al2's have loads of power, loads of lift, loads of endurance (318c good for 4 hrs ? - 100 nmile range - are very low work load to fly, have great reserve for auto's etc
These machines a re a bit of a relic, but they are SO viable and still hold there own against younger designs. nothing gets close for operating costs, more R22 territory than, say, Jet box money, set against R44 - al2 compares very well.
And the 313b engine (particularly) make just the best noises ! - a smile on your face every time the 'autostart' fires up the big noisy thing above the BIG fuel tank !
Thanks for the pic

B.E.A.S Alouette 2, had a colour change when Dollar operated it.
I can understand the commercial reasons for Eurocopter wanting to put this familly of aircraft to the sword but I for one will really miss them when they are gone.

A very sad end for this aircraft

Hi Ian,
This is fascinating! How are you able to operate them so inexpensively? Is it that they just don't require a lot of maintenance and parts? No doubt they do drink a lot of juice?
Is there anywhere to put bags?

" Is there anywhere to put bags? "
You must use the place as for Lama
Can you see nets by fuel tank? this is where you can put the baggage - only ask pilot not to fly in rain.
If you are operating Alouette II, then know if you need the Lama can lift you!
