Nail files

VF, re nail files, guts for garters etc, us engine blokes always carried our "Riffler Files" to blend slight dents & abrasions, but for deeper damage & as a "get you home" for the man in the RH seat a nail file often worked wonders, there must be stories on here about what we did that experience & 20 years of engineering taught us that got the job done to get the rotating mass airborne & home ! often a case of needs must within the parameters of safety and being an engineer in the old (good) days before all this yellow jacket & risk assessment stuff came in, PH (an ex helicopter engine fitter & engineer).

Riffler file

As an addition, if there is any helicopter engine fitter / engineer out there that doesn't have a Riffler File in their toolkit I am quite willing to pass mine on as I am now a happily retired ex helicopter/gas turbine engineer & my uses for said item are absolutely minimal (no good even for smoothing nails in leiu of a nail file !), regards, Paul H.

WoW factor indeed

Namaste VF

I don't know how I had never looked at this thread until last week. Then it became like the great compelling book that you just can't put down. I'm holding you responsible for hours and hours of work I didn't do because I was so entranced by these photos. I finally made it here from page 1, after days and days. Please, don't stop "wasting" my time!

When you get to those sites at 2000', do you get sick from too much oxygen? Funny how rotorheads usually joke about not flying above 500' to avoid nosebleeds, and you're playing astronaut.

VF,

1,000 rescues mate.

That would sound great, if you didn't take into account where you are - then it is bloody amazing !

Well done sir.

Arrrj

PS _ that last photo (video) is nasty...who wants to fly around in that stuff.

Angel Coffee time

Hey zetec2

My risk assessment is upon arrival looking outside; weather, wind, Helipad, approach-escape & doing a power check at 15knots (ETL) to see what margin I will have if any the yellow jacket is trendy, no requirements here for Pilot at least to wear fluro vests

Goodmorning helistoked

Thanks Brother
