I've tried to read the complete thread, but with this many pages, surely I've missed something. Are there any copies of the G2 operating in the US?

I've not been able to attend Heli-Expo. Has it been shown there?

Cabri in the US

Hi rotorfan,

there aren't any Cabri G2 s in the US as the helicopter hasn't been certified by the FAA so far. But I'm sure that will change pretty soon.

In the photo above, the rotor blade appears to have been fitted the wrong way round! I thought the rotor turns clockwise when viewed from above.

Buttocknurdler - I agree, I think it's been mirror-imaged. From this shot below, you can see it's the right way round from the GUIMBAL text below the rotorhead, and that the blades turn clockwise when viewed from above

Northern Helicopters in Sweden claim that they already have reached 4000 hrs in the Cabri so they might be able to give you some info?

Talk to the owner, Mikael Randhem.

Hello earborn,

You're lucky to live in NZ, first because it's a very nice country and then because as you said, there're G2 flying in NZ.

One private and 3 operated under part 135.

There'll be 2 more G2 at the end of august.

Here a very well detailed NZ report about the G2 (page 13 to 16) with one flight test plus pilots and the private owner point of view : http://www.kiwiflyer.co.nz/KiwiFlyer...0-Complete.pdf

Friedricschafen Aero Show

Guimbal are putting on a big marketing push at Friedricschafen later this week.

I have heard that there will be some interesting announcements too.

It's great to see a 21st Century training helicopter in service.

Has Mr Guimbal made any hints about developing a 4 seater version?

I'm sure that would ruffle a few feathers in the Robinson camp !

Isn't he going to be concentrating on the UAV version? (The real money spinner!)

Edited to add: the EADS Orka-1200. Orka-1200 - EADS - Flight Global UAV directory

As Bruno tries to produce the best possible aircraft, he was concentrating on the sole real disadvantage reported by the G2 pilots: vibrations at high speed.

But it was until now : Guimbal addresses Cabri vibration issue at 90-100 knots | Helihub - the Helicopter Industry Data Source

He can now, concentrate on others goals. One of them is indeed the G4 : LoopTV.Aero
But of course we'll have to wait a little bit, it took Frank 14 years (after the R22 first delivery) to deliver the first R44.

Well, he says it would be a nice idea for him but he has no plans at the moment.

Well, it would be great to see a rival to the R44 eventually!

No, I would rather a 4 or 5 seater with the RR300 turbine. That would draw sales from R44, R66 and EC 120 potential owners. I think that would be a much better commercial option.

And please, please can we have such a massive excess of power that we can load 5 seats, luggage and a full fuel tank then still safely pull a vertical departure from a confined area. Stop making machines that are under-engined / transmission to use their potential.

From a New Zealand Cabri G2 Operator

We have recently taken delivery of a Cabri G2, no 43, and have put 80 hours on it for the month and we are very impressed with this helicopter.

This aircraft has exceeded our expectations. We have a lot of training and commercial experience and we are thrilled with the decision to go with the G2. This aircraft is what helicopters are all about.

New Zealanders are loving the Cabri and the Cabri is loving NZ. It will have a huge future here for people looking for the perfect 2 seat helicopter.

Bruno and his team at Guimbal need a huge congratulation, for designing and manufacturing such an impressive, safe and user friendly aircraft.

We are looking forward to the cargo hook arriving and being put to work. The installation of the VAP's will complete the ultimate package.

Shortly it will be externally lifting all forms of loads, conducting aerial shooting, assisting our fleet with commercial air transport and continuing with flight training.

We hope into the future that Guimbal can follow suit with a 4-5 seater, along the same lines as the G2. They would receive a firm order from us immediately. All the best Bruno Guimbal.

Fully endorse your request for a RR300; 4/5 seater that can do the work. Have a look at the Composite Helicopter from NZ. Might just do the job, if they don't get taken over and put in the bottom draw by Eurocopter
