"Aser, not knowing what sort of flying that you do, may answer this, but why the transponder code of 3746?"
Let me take a guess: it was the code assigned to him by the air traffic control agency?

In my opinion, I'd rather look at every angle of that AW139, I am not lucky enough to drive that beast yet.
Here are a few shots from my previous job. One of the best co-workers a guy can ask for was called up to fix a crippled squirrel.
Look close at the second shot to find the Astar..
Photo credits to Captain Tony Walker. One fine mountain pilot.

Aser / 212, I wasn't sure if it was a regular for the route that you were on, or ATC were being creative for the day?
Do ATC have a system for these things, (discrete XPDR codes) or is the fact it looks like a birth date purely coincidence? I do know that some codes are mandated, it's the unusual that I am asking about.
Just curious.

CY, I think it's a coincidence! Unless your codes all start with 0 or 00 then most codes could be a birth date, even the emergency ones (7700, 7600 etc).
Resulted from Nick Lappos being told the only way he could stay ahead of the aircraft was if he was sitting on the pitot tube.
hotzenplotz,
SAS has got the right answer but the other version of the story is that, if I'm not mistaken, it's a testbed for the Commanche. It's an S-76 with a FBW Commanche cockpit grafted on to the front of it. One TP sits up front to test the system.
HTH,

Edited to add: Just seen another re-run of the 'CyberCopter' doco on Discovery Wings: Mr Lappos was explaining in detail exactly what the 'Shadow' aircraft was intended for. He can certainly give you further details if you require...!

That's a nice rock that she's wearing! Lucky bloke.
You can see how the red paint work on the helicopter brings out the orange trim on her bikini...
Some pilot's have all the fun.

Hotzenplotz,
Do you know where they build those little separate compartments, I would like to adapt one of those to my car for when the lady starts nagging . . . .
