Hey, love the sound of the rotor blades on the V12 Osprey, the sound it produces when in helicopter position sounds great.

Thanks

Excellent find, mountjoy! I'd love to have seen the sequence of events immediately before this clip - the one that got them there in the first place. Idle speculation on my part would be that after the first landing they started to slide and wisely shut down before she backed into the trees. My next guess is that, after a quick pace around to assess the ground and with a very close eye on the MMI, they opted for a quick start/ immediate lift before further slide prior to repositioning across the slope (which looks very benign after the second landing - ah, the pleasures of snow landings with no discernible contrast when looking away from the treeline, eh?). Good to see a safe outcome - bet they were glad to get back to a hot chocolate or 3 after that sortie.

This video is old and was discussed here in this forum a long time ago, even the involved seniorpilot from austria ( Gilbert with the great moustache ) made his comments about this incident.

skadi, thankyou for the link. Slower-time than I thought but pretty close nonetheless. Good to read the happy outcome.

Nice quality pic, CptJim - although methinks Mr Veit is letting them off lightly with his choice of shot. The vid shows the dustbin well-and-truly down among the weeds.

I agree, maybe one of the photoshop pros out there could "re-work" the image?
