Close, but no cigar...
At Daneborg in North East Greenland, 74 degrees North.
HQ of "Sirius", an Danish Special Operations unit doing Arctic Patrol.
Very exciting trip. It is only during the brief summer up there that the coastal waters are (nearly) ice free...

You have mail!
Hows about this for a view out of the window?
The picture was sent to me by a friend in the US Navy.
Crewmen on the attack submarine Baltimore standing by with a grappling hook to snag a mail shipment being lowered
from an SH-60 Seahawk from Anti-Submarine Squadron Five.

Hey Leemind,
I always wondered what that well built fellow was doing, but your second shot clearly shows he is pointing to the local hostelry.

What a great thread - thanks for sharing these with us.
RobboRider - the Soviets' choice of light blue cockpit paint schemes for their aircraft was reportedly based on studies showing that this was the most relaxing color for aircrew. (Gunship - were you always relaxed when flying the Hind operationally, or did Natasha make this impossible....?).
