He said he needs ANOTHER 2 pilots, plus
he flies himself. That makes 5 pilots
total to fly 2 Bell 206's. Average
flying per day 2.3 Tach. Divide that by 5. Hmmmm, sounds weird, doesn't it !
And pay is $30K below average (US)
turbine salery, and you pay your travelexpenses to get to the interview !!
I would stay well clear of this guy !

Read the forum at www.justhelicopters about a week ago, regarding Pelican Air. There is also an older thread regarding them also. I agree, stay away from them. If you are interested in Carib flying, check with St. Lucia Helicopters on St. Lucia. I do not know if they are hiring or not, but they require a CAA/JAA license. The last time I spoke with the owner (Canadian) he was operating B-206's and Astars if I remember correctly.

I've just finished working for Pelican Air, averaging '100 hours a month' mainly VFR night. Yes the money is not in keeping with UK standards, but most of the pilots applying are Latinos and for them $1500 per month is good money.
Also for me the flying experience was fantastic, having not been through the military system. There are only two pilots, the chief getting $3500 p/m and the owner tries his best not to fly.
If its money your after, stay away from the caribbean, money is tight on all the islands. However, if you want to get experience and good training, then it doesn't get better.

Hi Fastback
Went out to Curacao in Feb, since I could not find anything full time here.
Reason for coming home, managed to get 3 job offers within two weeks here in the UK. Also my original contract in Curacao, was to fly an MD902 to and from Aruba IFR on a daily basis, this has now been cancelled.
The position is most definately for singles only, without children. The job has more than its fair share of risks!!!!!! But for me, well lets just say it was an eyeopener and an education. As for the nightlife, that I will miss........
