Thumbs up A source for models and hopefully it does not contstitute advertising.

Here is the website for Piazzai Models in Arona, Italy. They make the factory models for Aerospatiale (Eurocopter), Sikorsky, Boeing (Apache and variants of the CH-47) as well as Schweizer and MD Helicopters. If you contact them tell them you are interested in purchasing a model from their over production. Normally they will sell in orders of 20 models. Their models have clear transparencies and have interior furnishings.

If the Bell 47 model is a G Mark model you can consider yourself very lucky. They stopped production several years ago and it is nearly impossible to find a G Mark kit. If it is a G Mark it is worth several thousand dollars.

I have several pictures of a G Mark kit built by Piazzai for their own collection and it can't be told from a real B-47 helicopter.

I wish it was possible to compare collections.

More to come.

Lou - thanks for the link to the Piazzai site - I had never seen that before. I believe this is the mfr. of my MD500E.

This could be a very dangerous web site for me

cheers,

I feel quite poor.

My solitary helicopter model is a Mil-24 bought from Toys-R-Us when I was an undergraduate, to help me visualise things when revising for helicopter flight mechanics exams.

Since then, if I've ever needed a model, I've usually borrowed the kids Lego and made my own.

Sorry Dave the way it is set up if I kick off before my wife she will keep the collection together and when she joins me in the nether world the entire collection goes to the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. The collection also includes 19 original paintings of aircraft and helicopters.

There is an open invitation for all on this forum if you are ever in the vicinity of Montreal you are welcome to visit. If you play your cards right you might even get a free meal.

I have to concur with models from griffin aerospace. I have a Bell 412 in Southcare colours, Australian Army AS350, 171 SQN Uh-1h, and 5 Aviation regiment Blackhawk, Bell 407, 427, another 412 in Queensland Rescue Colours, bell 230 UT and quite a few of the CDC diecast Hueys on offer.

I always get comments from non pilot and pilot types who really admire the workmanship and detail that go into them.

The models are about the $180 USD mark, but are extremely well worth it. The more angles and photos you can give on the colour scheme etc is preferable, but they don't do a bad job of winging it either. Ask for Fred or Rose.

Cheers

Thumbs up Move over little dog(s) the big dog is moving in.

I just took delivery of a 1:18 scale model of an USAF H-60 complete with external; fuel tanks. The model is completely detailed. It took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to assemble the model. It is sitting next to the 1:18 scale HUEY and the Super Cobra. I had never seen the real helicopters together and I was amazed at the size difference between the HUEY and the Cobra relative to the H-60. The H-60 just fits on the shelf with not too much space to spare.

I have contracted for a 1:18 scale HO3-S1G scratch built from basswood and the cockpit interior is fully detailed. That one will take over a year to build.

Seeking die-cast helo supplier (esp. 407)

Does anyone out there know of a good source of small die-cast helicopters, such as would be used for display case purposes ? I'm specifically looking for a small die-cast B407, but any names of good suppliers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
I/C

Thumbs up Die cast models.

To: Ian

I do not believe there is a die cast model of the 407 being produced. There are die cast models of the 212, the 412, the A-109 Power and the Sea King. Corgi has a listing of models presently in production to include the B-47, Boeing CH-47 and many others.

There are a lot of firms in the UK that do high quality die casting of various models but in order to get them to commit to making a model you will have to provide a lot of dosh up front with a guarantee of a specific production run. You will also have to provide the necessary drawings and be prepared to pay a royalty to Bell.

I would suggest you contact a custom builder. I think I can provide the name of a quality builder. They presently have a 407 in OZ EMS colors but they can do any color scheme.

These people are the best in my opinion they have been making display /desktop models for Agusta and SM for yonks, the factory is well worth a visit if you are in the Milan area. They are not cheap but will make one offs to order

To: Ian Corrigible

Having Piazzai make a one-off model is analogous to having Ferrari make a one-off Dino. Their master models are made of wood and this model is used to develop a Kirksite metal mold, which is in turn used to mold the models. Many of their models that have clear canopies are cast using an acrylic material. The models are then masked off and painted. They make models for Sikorsky, Boeing Vertol, Hughes, Sweitzer, and most of the European aircraft and helicopter manufacturers.

Yes the factory is well worth a visit but the best place to visit is Malpensa where Piazzai had donated and displayed their entire model collection.

I have been in the factory many times and in the process I spent over $14,000 for models.

I was looking for the builder of the 407 but somehow it got deleted from my desktop. I’ll keep on looking.

I'm sorry, but the original poster made reference to nudes. I've scoured through to the end of this thread and not one further reference to defrocked beauties. I know I'm new here, but could you please keep it on topic? Where's the nakedness?

Here it is. I plan on purchasing one in a month or so. You can get whatever paint scheme you wish.

R-22 Model

I found a R-22 model, 1/72 scale on the internet. At that scale it's so small one might wear it as a tie-tac!
