RVSM flights/GPS approach
Hello
Specific question , maybe somebody is well informed.
If I have private use let's say Cessna XLS and I have valid type rating , valid IR rating can I fly this plane in RVSM airspace without any additional certificates and courses , and the same question about GPS approaches ?
Thank you

Depends on your CAA. The FAA requires a Letter of Authorization for operations in RVSM airspace. The plane has to meet certain maintenance standards. Also the crew has to be trained. However the the FAA says this training can be part of the regular training for the aircraft and does not have to be a stand alone event.

Assuming your location is Europe and/or you are planning to operate in European RVSM airspace, you will need to get RVSM approval from you regulator.
More information here:
European RVSM Approvals | EUROCONTROL

1000ft is not much pressure difference at high altitudes so a well functioning altimetry system is critical. For peace of mind, fly over one of the European Height Monitoring Units every now and then so that if the system gets out of calibration it will be noted by Eurocontrol. They will notify you if your altimetry system is drifting too far off.
