Flying in USA
I am soon to go to Miami for a holiday and would like to hire a small aeroplane for a bit of sightseeing. Question is, how easy or difficult is it now to get an FAA licence ?
Last time I was there in the mid eighties I had a FAA license issued on the spot on the basis of my UK PPL. The ATPL I had issued shortly afterwards has a different number so presumably the airman certificate is no longer valid.
Is there an FAA office near Miami ?

you have to fill out a couple of forms and pay about £16, plan on doing this some time time before you are due to fly out
