Ibertour

Hi,

Does anyone have any real experience with Ibertour in Girona Airport, Spain?

I saw on their website that they are doing APTL (frozen) + CPL + PPL + SE + ME + IR, 800 ground school hours and 200 flight hours. It take 18 months and costs €39,995 inlcuding accommodation or €34,995 ex-cluding accommodation.

Has anyone had any good, bad or indifferent experiences with them? Or any reviews about their training or condition of aircraft, etc.

Thanks.

mark_c 24th Mar 2011 01:13

Hey dc3 i was looking at their site as well... Seems too good to be true!! Hopefully someone on here has some experience of them. It looks to me like more of a 1 stop modular course, rather than an integrated. But if i heard good stories about them, i would be over there in a jiffy.

I-ENIO 26th Mar 2011 19:47

737, I sent you a PM cause I'm very interested too, but I think that we better discuss about it here publicly, so anyone interested can see...

mark_c 28th Mar 2011 13:37

Hey I-ENIO, have you heard anything about the school, im really interested too! Ryanair flights to Girona are €55 return from dublin so i might take a trip over to check it out!

petra1987 29th Mar 2011 08:09

hey guys!

I would be really interested to know more about Ibertour, I just found them, yesterday, but they do not have any details for the ATPL frozen and 40 000 is the max sum I would get for my loan so seems just about right, but I do not know what to think of it..

Please post anything you might know. i have emailed them but no reply back yet.

Many thanks!

I contacted them and they said that the cost does not include exam fees. I wonder what else it does not include.

737-NG 30th Mar 2011 01:49

Exam fees are never included for any school I've heard of be it modular or integrated since you pay them not to the FTO but to the country CAA(except maybe Egnatia in Greece) And by the way check for landing fees too, I was told Girona has them up now at 60 euros. For a Cessna! Believe it or not. But they actually PAY Ryanair to land their 737's over there. Twisted world.

mark_c 30th Mar 2011 19:20

Im still confused guys!! Is this an integrated course or a one-stop modular! Girona looks like a great location!! Anyone know when the school opened?? Cheers

Hi All

New Wannabe in town!!

I've looked at Ibertour as well and emailed them for further details and their reply is below:

Thank you for your interest in Ibertour International Aviation.

The cost of 39995 € includes the ATPL (A) modular course and accommodation for 18 months. Apartments are brand new, construction finished this month.

The theory exams, skill tests, medical expenses and landing fees outside of Girona Airport are not included in the total price. Why?

- Theory exams: Prices depending on pass/fail. - Official prices

- Skill tests (flight exams): Prices depending on pass/fail. - Official prices

- Medical exam: Some students want to do their medical exam in their own country prior to arrival. - Official prices

- Landing fees outside Girona Airport: Students decide themselves where they want to fly. Prices vary from airport to airport. - Official prices

The total price - all included - will be around 43000 € - 44000 €.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact us!

Best regards,

Ibertour FTO

Not sure if modular is the best way to go but I'll trudge trough the other threads to find out more.

I-ENIO 1st Apr 2011 12:30

About landing fees: for what I could understand, this year AENA rules have changed and they introduced minimums that at Girona are 52,90€. But they don't apply to training flights that pay 4,60/ton.

http://www.aena.es/csee/ccurl/927/41...%20febrero.pdf

About the school: a guy in the spanish forum told me that he has a friends doing hour building at Ibertour and he has nothing to complain with them. He also told me that he is doing a modular course in Madrid with Aerofan

AEROFANFTO

the total price of PPL+CPL+SE-IR+ATPL theory+50 hours C152 with them is 32450€, another good option. But I think I'll fly Girona soon, I only want to have a little chat with someone of the already started course to sign with Ibertour. Maybe we'll see there? ;)

Happy landings, mates!

petra1987 14th Apr 2011 20:34

not sure what to think of it. might be reallz worth visiting and findin out any hidden fees.

petra1987 14th Apr 2011 20:39

yeh, I got similar email, too. The good advantage might be the accommodation included and life in Spain is hopefully not extremely expensive, so really could work out around 45000 all together, I suppose. If anyone pazs them a visit, let us know pls!

Many thanks!

Johnny Bekkestad 14th Apr 2011 21:31

Hi Petra, if the max you can get it €40K and the course is €39K you could end up in troubles.
If you need more hours than minimum to go for a check, or if you fail a check and therefor have to go back and fly more and pay for another checkride then you will go over the max 40000 you've got. And what will you allocate for all the extras you will need. Books, uniform, headset, bags, charts, calculators etc not even talking about food, means of travel etc!!!

petra1987 21st Apr 2011 12:14

Hey Johnny, well I would have 40 000 for the training and 10 000 for other expenses which shall hopefully be sufficient..also I have done PPL in UK so shall have it chepaer then 39 I have been told but yes you are right there is always need to have extra source..

Poeli 22nd Apr 2011 09:05

Does anyone know how much it would be for the frozen ATPL if you already have the PPL?

I-ENIO 26th Apr 2011 09:28

They told me it is 5k€ less for PPL holders.

zondaracer 1st May 2011 10:27

I went to check out Ibertour recently. I already have my CPL but I hadn't flown in awhile so I asked if I could get a lesson to just fly around.

Their facility is new, and they are expanding the building to include a new classroom. The head of training has been flying for 12 years, and I flew with him and he was a great person to fly with who is passionate about instructing. They have 4 aircraft, 3 C172s and one Seneca with plans to acquire more when they are maxed out on capacity. They one plane that I did fly appeared to be in better condition than the aircraft I am used to flying. I did most of my training in the states at a school regarded to have the best maintenance around, so take it for what it's worth.

And since their planes are based out of Girona, they have several instrument approaches available including NDBs. I am not sure why people think a Spanish IR is not worth anything, but we flew some approaches and we flew them exactly as they should be flown.

Overall, I was impressed with their setup considering that they just started up. If I were looking for a FTO tomorrow at a good price with adequate training, in a good location, I would attend Ibertour. Just my two cents

Hi there,

any News about Ibertour @ Girona?
I am very interested too.

I'd like to sell my Appartement for the complete course ;-)

One important question for me:
Would they allow to take my Dog with me for the 18+ months?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

Has anyone had any success yet through this company as this is based outside UK and wondering if i have to think twice?

And also is PPL cheap to do here in UK or best to do the whole course they offer.

Thanks

Guys, please stay away from this school. I am not a person who like to talk negative on this forum but PM me if you like some more info!

Ibertour ...

Well seems hard to receive feedback for Ibertour

I tried to visit them few months ago, i couldnt find them in Girona airport. There was another school present there for helicopter training.

Before going to Girona I had several messages from them and suggested to meet but when I went nobody in Girona and noboy at the airport could inform me.

Few days later i wrote them back and i received the info that they were located in another close city so finally could not meet them...

anyone with more feedback??

:ugh::ugh:

Id like to know your feedback on this school. It does seem too good to be true, and info directly from the school is like getting blood from a stone! :ugh:

Ibertour info

Hi,

Let's talk seriously about this Ibertour FTO...
It is actually true to say that It is one of the cheapest school in Europe. I would have lot of temptation to talk on the negative way about this school because of the mess of their management and ground school (let's leave the emotionnal parts on the side...).

I'm presently doing my Atpl with them, the quality of the training is in according with their price, the ground school is just bad for someone who really want to learn from experimented instructor, the schedule of the flying part is a mess, the 18months training is just a lie, I would say about 1year more at least. That was for the dark side...

As everyone can see their first arguments is their price!
35000€ to be a commercial pilot with 200hrs it's still good opportunity to be a pilot.
if your goal is just to get the diploma and log hours Ok but their dynamic and their real mess will not helping you to be an excellent pilot.

See you there maybe

Otacon 15th Aug 2012 18:03

Good luck with that!

I've heard from current students that they are very upset with the quality and organization of the school. Event worst, they are not friendly or helpful at all with the students. Getting an ATPL license is hard enough to be fighting with your school, instructors and bad organization.

This totally match with the opinion of Omega9 in this thread. I think they need to improve a lot on that if they want to be a good fly school.

heyyo 19th Sep 2012 16:39

I have a friend there at the moment and by the sounds of it, I don't think the school will last for much longer. They have new classes starting but only have 1 plane, cesna 172. Also everyone there is very un happy with the school. My friend has been there 7 months and still has no ppl. I would have to recommend people to stay away.

Cherrytaz 1st Dec 2012 12:22

Any more update on the situation at Girona?? Again the 40k seems to good to be true

zondaracer 1st Dec 2012 15:52

It is too good to be true. You get what you pay for.

Some schools pay ATPL instructors a decent hourly wage, so they get some experienced pilots to teach. Ibertour offers slightly above minimum wage to their ATPL instructors, so they are going to get the lowest caliber instructors.

I think they have 4 aircraft; 1 Seneca, 2 C172s, 1 DA-20 Katana. I could be wrong on the exact numbers. I did see inside one of their C172s... they used color tape on the outside of the glass of the airspeed indicator to create the white arc, green arc, yellow arc, and red arc. I think their other C172 is a G1000 which they bought after Top Fly went bust.

I don't see it as a sustainable business model. The price is too low. When I talked to their head of training, he said the price was only a promotional rate to get people into the school, and later on the price would go up.

I think their intentions are good, but the execution is lacking.

GiuseppeAlonci 6th Feb 2013 08:35

I just sent them an email asking for hidden prices and airplane use...

Can anyone tell me if they have had any experience with Ibertour FTO in Spain? I see that they are much cheaper than other FTO's but I do not know if they have ties with any airlines upon graduation? Any information on them would be greatly appreciated

Gally2 30th Aug 2013 17:27

I too got onto Ibertour but after their first email it is impossible to receive another it seems as it has been weeks since i sent a reply email but have not received anything back.... So far from the replies here the school does not seem up to the standard that one would expect? Is this really true? has anyone got any first hand experience from flying with this school? It does seem too good to be true!!!!!!:( Is it worth joining them or not does anyone know?

patrykbll 2nd Sep 2013 10:48

most of the bad opinions over here are posted by people that logged in only once, posted one post and never wrote anything again so i am not sure if we should trust them.
Usually when somebody has something bad to say they make a big issue, add more things to the thruth and then we are getting a nice colorfull fairy-tale. Those who have good experience usually they don't post anything because they have other things to do- for example flying :)
For me, as for now- Ibertour made a very good impression- people are very friendly and helpfull- I am starting with them around 1st November- I am moving to Spain with my fiancee, so I am not taking Ibertour accomodation- AND EVEN THO- they are helping me to find a flat to rent in Girona. The school itself is growing, they are moving to a new facility, they are in the middle of getting all the paperwork for their Airbus A320 simulator to get it approved for the MCC courses. Everything looks ok. The time will show how is it going to be. I promise I will find few minutes to give you guys a feedback about Ibertour when I will start my training.

For now- have a good day :)

Hi everyone,

I'am a student from Ibertour and I'm still suprised to see people joining the school every three months, Unfortunatly after a while they finally understand that is a total trapp.

Here is a cheap school, nothing to complaint about their price so their strategy to maintain the school alive is to make you pay a monthly payment once on the other side they will not put you on schedule to fly.
Personally I 've been waiting 3month to start flying then with a frequency of one to two fly a week with some weeks off due to maintenance of the aircraft.

Instructors are in the same mood as students so don't expect too much from them, they are just fresh instructor who got their first job in aviation...As a student we see them arriving then leaving after a while once they understood where there were.
Really regret to have sign for them like i said they owned me so much money due to the monthly payment that the only way to exit is to finish with them or to send them in court but as most of the students we are foreigners in comparison of those people who own this business and have the connection that they need...

If you have doubt about it go to their facebook page and ask to the students personally, (if you don't don't ask the boss or manager) most of them will explain in other words what i'm saying.

Freeee 26th Dec 2013 06:28

I will give my opinion.
All instructors of all flight schools start from cero. when you does the flight instructor course you don't have experience in instruction and a lot of times is the first job, when the instructor have experience and have the opportunity the instructor will go to airline, no pilots of airlines do instruction in flying. This is normal for all schools, the problem is that you don't have experiencie in others flights schools for to compare.
Ibertour offers a very good price and delivers what it promises. If you prefer a more prestigious school you can pay 100.000 euros but you will get the same license.
In all flight school if a student fails to pay remain in ground ... I think no need to explain the reasons.
Then you can obtain your licence for only 35.000, for me is a great oportunity.

Anyone done the FI course at Ibertour? Looking at different schools in Spain for the FI, and Ibertour wanted ca 6000 euros, while FTE wanted 10.000... Would be nice to hear from students who are there now. How many aircraft, students etc. And if they are a serious FTO?

omega9 3rd Jan 2014 16:22

Hello,
If you want my own opinion even you are working for Ibertour (like the person who are using the user name "FREEEE") you can contact me, I will explain you personally how bad they make me start in aviation...
