I have to tell though I may get told off, but, I sleep with the horses mouth and it says (subject to Uncle Sadman of course) that BA WILL be recruiting in around three months externally

A thread only a few days old

Internal vacancies requirements stated but the website (BA) will give you the "outsider's" DEP criteria.

Our cadets at CitiExpress start leaving us in the next couple of weeks or at least those flying the Dash-8 do. The last couple I think go a little later, in April. I believe they're all off to LHR to fly the 757/767. Good luck to them, they have been a pleasure to fly with and I'm sure they'll all do well.

It's nice to see someone saying something complimentary about the Cadets. They are all returning to Mainline over the next 2/3 months but I can tell you of the numbers I know, they have really enjoyed their time with Citiexpress and speak very highly about the people with whom they have been working.
I hope that they can enjoy their roles in mainline to the same extent and are hoping things work out for the friends they will be leaving behind.

Recruitment BA

There is indeed movement toward some employment. However, BA Waterside is waiting to see what or when the Middle East kicks off. If it is the worst case, then recruitment will be postponed.
There is also a need to employ up to 120 ground handlers and 50 plus check-in staff but that to is all dependant on what happens.

Why are the cadets going to the 767/757 fleet? I thought this was being reduced, and current pilots moving to other fleets.

Does the 767/757 not attract anyone internally any more due to the shrinking number of routes it now serves?

No Sponsor,

I asked the exact same question of a BA FO yesterday. Apparently traffic has picked up quicker that BA expected and the 757 phase-out rate has been reduced. Unfortunately too many crews have already been moved to other fleets and BA are trying to make up for the resulting shortage in 757/767 rated crews.

(BTW the FO (an Airbus pilot) told me that one of his mates had recently transferred from the A319/320 fleet to the 757/767 fleet to get some longhaul flying and was shocked at the avionics in the 757 cf with the Airbus. (Now that will start another Airbus/Boeing debate!!!) And as I spent 4 hours in one of BA's Airbus sims yesterday I know what he means! Automatic trimming - no more fiddling with trim switches!

It might be a nice plane to fly but someone should tell Airbus to stop making rude aircraft. Fancy calling a pilot a retard!

I've been yelling 'let me on the 75/76' for rather longer than the citiexpress cadets have been around. (Even lent a shoulder to cry on to some of them because they were not going to get onto a mainline fleet.) And yet somehow I, along with a number of others, am still frozen on a fleet which is due to be dead in the water in less than 6 months (737). It is not through lack of internal application that there are vacancies on the 75/76 fleet. It is called fleet management.

Still, at least when I finally get there there'll be plenty of people junior to me so I don't have to take all the crap trips.

Passing through BAFTs "braincrank" last week and the grapevine talked about 100 recruits required this year due to the exact reasons stated above in this thread. Thought it was a wind up at the time - could still be I guess, but it sort of makes sense.

I don't know the source of KERDUNKER, but I understood it came out of a team brief.

Perhaps someone senior in BA wholeheartedy deny the rumour otherwise I guess it must be taken seriously.

All the best to those 100 who win the lottery !!!
