Mark up or mark down in exams ?
So near yet so far !!!
Just got my results back from the December exams and now passed 13 and failed perf. 74%
When we came out of the exams i was speaking to someone who said you couldn't get 74% in perf. He said because of the amount of marks you could only get 74.5%, now i maybe grasping at straws here but are they marked up or marked down?
must grumble !!!
Can ayone shed any light on this ?
Is it worth ringing the CAA ?

Sorry to tell you, the CAA will say that 75% is the pass mark,
so even if you got 74.999999999% it is below 75%.
I went through the same thing last year and got nowhere with the CAA.
But just think of all those nice things the CAA can buy with your resit fees.

How many questions are there in the perf exam ?
Well done on your passes, and I'm playing devils advocate (before I get flamed!), but if the pass is 75 %, and you get 74.5% then I'm afraid its not a pass is it ?
With just that to do itll be no sweat next time.

The only reason i was asking was that when you get your mark you don't get 74.5 % do you ? its either 74/75%

Hard luck... but don't give up just yet. Were there any questions on the exam which were, well, I hesitate to use the word "dubious", but we all know what some of the questions can be like! 
If so, make sure you have a word with your school... they'll be able to petition the CAA to have that question removed from the exam, but they'll only have a limited time to do it. I'm sure the ground-school instructors who are regular posters here will know more details, but if you're that close, and you can get one question removed which you got wrong, you should be in with a chance! You've certainly got nothing to loose....

Also any queries on any questions have to submitted by your school before results are published.

Someone obviously put the paper the wrong way through the machine or something along those lines.
All of June's papers had to be re-marked for some reason the CAA haven't publicised as far as I know; at least one paper was upgraded from 74% to 75% - I'm sure there's a groundschool bod or two lurking who know more of this story.
Despite all this, if I was in you shoes, I'd just accept you've failed, and book the resit ASAP. I picked up a couple of resits, and that's just what I did. Incidentally, just past my last one - PoF 85% 14/14 for me!
EDIT: just re-read the last post. As might have been mentioned, I'm 95% sure you can only appeal the questions set BEFORE the results are issued, after which, the manner in which the paper was marked is your only avenue.

If i'd have got an answer of 74.6 in a question then I'd have gone for the option of 75 not 74! Is the CAA ever going to get it's act together? I think not.

Sorry to tell you, the CAA will say that 75% is the pass mark, so even if you got 74.999999999% it is below 75%.
