Interesting, where did you see the webinar - and is it online anywhere?

On their Zoom page I can only see the direct entry webinars they hosted a month or so ago, nothing Speedbird related! Fingers crossed for next month.

Firstly thank you for the indepth summary of your application process. Just a side question, did you use any exam prep materials, for the handling test, eagle capacity etc... also would you be able to elaborate on the eagle test?

Was this a webinar open to the public, or do you have insider information?

I used PilotAptitudeTest.com for all of my attempts at the schemes last year -TUI, Jet2 and BA!

They were pretty spot-on with Jet2, TUI was ace and for BA they had the most realistic Capacity and Handling Tests that I could find.

I used PAT's SPA Package, similar to what AirbusBarkingDog recommended; it was great for building familiarity and practising.

Regarding the Eagle test, please follow guidance from the British Airways recruitment team and avoid excessive practice. BA identified an “over-practice” effect, where repeated practice can lead to poorer performance due to the development of unhelpful habits. No online version accurately replicates the official assessment at Waterside. This assessment is less about skill and more about your stress tolerance, ability to follow instructions, and cognitive capacity under pressure.

Feeling challenged during the test is therefore expected; everyone I spoke to made mistakes. Just follow the instructions, keep going and remain calm - good luck!

Heads up, there is a webinar on the 3rd available on the Speedbird-z event page. Maybe a good opportunity to ask questions about SPA.

It was open to the public, it wasn't specifically titled "Speedbird Academy" but the majority of it was about it and current students were involved too.
Register for job alerts and you will get all the info whenever the webinars come up.

All they said was there would be updates in the coming months. Just speculating, but might be Mid-April given that a good amount of their openings are set for that time.

I think the war in Iran will make a problem for this scheme, right? I hope not.

Why would the situation in Iran affect it? Unless we’re specifically told otherwise, we should assume the scheme is still happening in a few weeks and proceed accordingly.

A lot of pilots getting made redundant and a type rating is cheaper than fully funding a new course.

That is not how it works at BA. If drops were necessary, it’ll be by relative fleet seniority. When the 74 was around, it wouldn’t have been cadets taking over following residencies, if it had stuck around. The first thing you’d see is either training paused, or continued but contract not started until the airline are onboarding once again.

But that being said, I personally don’t believe that there will be huge recruitment ramifications off the back of the Middle East situation right now, it will however likely make LH DEP a bit more competitive perhaps, unless they happy to keep the holdpool expanding.

I’ve recently asked about base preference and was told that from later this year the offering will include BACF(LCY). I had selected LHR so I queried this and was told that it could still changed to LCY as we are placed where BA need us.
Anyone know what CIty Flyer is like?

Hi, I'm looking to apply this year for the first time, I've read through the whole thread, and was wondering if there anyone from previous years who was accepted happy to help me with a few questions I have about the application process and training? I'm also wondering if anyone also applying this year would like to make a group chat. Thanks!

Would that extend to applicants for the 2026 SBPA? Make's sense if so.

I am considering applying to this course when it opens and I would like to know about everyone else's experience within this and would they prefer to get onto this course or the Jet2 Flight path course?

Any News?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but has there been any news on this programme starting up soon? I would really like to apply!
