EASA CPL in USA
Hello again.
I am having a hard time navigating the CAA web site. I'm wondering if you can please point me in the right direction.
And thank you for helping me out with the locations of all the ATPL residential ground schools. The hotel appreciates me printing all 71 pages out on their printer.
What I'm looking for this time is a list of places where you can do the VFR part of a ATPL (f), also known as a CPL no I/R.
I understand the I/R has to be done in European airspace, but I believe the CPL part can be done Stateside. Doesn't Oxford do it in Arizona?
I understand that the actual test has to be done in a complex aircraft, but can some of the training be done in our family's Cessna 172?
A list of schools, examiners and instructors would be great.
Plus any tips as to what is involved.
Thank you.

There are not only directly EASA approved ATOs in the US. Several operate as satellites of UK ATOs, CTC and others in Phoenix, for instance, and Naples Air Center in Florida, quite possibly others. You really need past student recommendations for US schools as the quality can be highly variable, and even the designated examiners the ATO uses can make a difference. You would have to talk to your chosen ATO about using the family C172, some might say yes, others no. One objection might be if the test is to be taken in an Arrow a then Warrior is a better lead in aircraft than a C172.

Whilst looking at the Jerez web site it accrued to me, that my Cessna 172 is better than there's, so why am I contemplating going all the way to Spain to rent one.
Florida would be a whole lot closer than Arizona, but I've never heard a good word said about Naples Air Center. I would need some more information to form my own opinion though. I will look into it. It's just I've read stories about Florida based instructors bouncing cheques and failing EASA examiner check rides and wanted to avoid any pit falls.
Yes, I'd rather use my Cessna 172 and do the test in a rented Cutlass RG. However she will have a lot of time in my friends Piper Arrow to get the hours required for her US Comm/Inst/Multi. I can trade time at a ratio of three for two to borrow it anytime. But can't take it to Arizona for a few weeks.
