That point aside, and that would be bad enough if it were real, is that only ONE person out of 600 applicants can go through.

The other implications I refer to are on there website, and I don't like the odds being stacked against our wannabes the way they are.

It is, of course, still their decision to participate or not but it is our duty to point out the pitfalls of this 'scheme'. Which we have being doing for over a year now!

Jerez of course WWW.

zeroanli, you should look at their website www.malgus.com before you do anything.

They say a course is currently costing £50,000 but we know that it is more like £60,000.

However, you will also note that after they give you 100% sponsorship, they want 50% of that 100% sponsorship back.

So if you get selected in the first place - about a 600/1 chance - and you complete the course. When you are employed you pay them back at the rate of £400-£500 per month out of your salary for FIVE years.

The choice as always is yours.

That is absolutely my final word on this subject. Except this. I would no more give to our wannabes "foundless statements" than I would to pay out of the PPRuNe Fund which I have run for the past two-half years - for wannabes - JUST ONE £147 'entrance fee' to this scheme.

If you go to their website via the link IFR kindly provided, you'll see that they seem to have three operations: aviation, cosmetic surgery and website design (site currently under construction!).

Go into aviation and click on 'About Us' and if you try to click on their 'Associate Director' and 'Associate Technical Director' (both of which are legally meaningless terms, btw) and you'll get an error 404 code. In other words, the company consists of a guy flying as an FO for Aer Lingus and his dad. Angus Campbell, one of the founders and the 'Operations Director' according to their 'News' page, has distanced himself from the company and I believe he has resigned ... could he know something the rest of us don't?

Whilst the cost of the course in Jerez is £60,000, on top of that you have to add the cost of accommodation, travel, €50 per week pocket money, training bond etc. That of course increases the odds of success, as it increases the number of mugs, er wide-eyed and bushy-tailed naive wannabes that have to sign up.

Next, click on 'Full Details'. The first thing that's apparent is that you are getting far from the 'full details' promised as they tell you that one of the most important aspects of the whole deal - repaying the money - will only be discussed with you if you get to the final stage! Question 21 of the FAQs states: 21>> Will Malgus Ltd help me find a job?
A. It is in our best interest to find you a job. We will do our best to keep you informed of possible openings. We will not guarantee any positions, however, if we do find you employment you must accept this position.
So, if they find you a job paying £1,000 per month - you have to take it ... and pay back £25,000 out of your earnings!

Last year, these guys claimed that they were being supported by Scottish Enterprise - and that was subsequently proven to have been a gross misstatement of the facts. In reality, they are just using a Scottish Enterprise 'hive' (Burnside House in Howood near Glasgow) and there is no 'support' beyond that provided by SE. Certainly, SE is not backing or underwriting them.

There's an old saying: if it sounds too good to be true, that's because it is. Caveat emptor is an even older one!

I should think everyone is getting very bored with Malgus by now. The old saying of "there are none so blind as they who cannot see" is so true.

The main problem is that some poor soul with a career in mind, comes along with £147, sees an "opportunity", and then closes in at the exclusion of all else. Then, having then got the "taste" of the scheme won't let go, and God help those who tell it how it is.

Very sad really.

I see from the Malgus website, that the "100% sponsored" students, now apparently have to make the first £5,000 training repayment, BEFORE they go to the FTO.

Also, according to Companies House, the first company was:-

Malgus Ltd No. SC220272 incorporated 15/05/2001

And, now there is another company:-

Malgus Aviation Ltd No. SC230600 incorporated 22/04/2002

Both companies have the same Registered Office, Directors & Shareholders.

So is the Malgus operation expanding?

What mis-information would that be then?

It is clear that Malgus exist. No-one denies that. But it is clear that you are determined throw to away £147 and then hock yourself up to the eyebrows paying back what they want. 50% of your salary for FIVE years. The good news is that you have to take your chances with the other 599 - if they ever get them. They can't pay BAe if they don't collect the money can they.

Still, if you can't see the stile you WILL fall over it.

Oh yes! They are also now offering cosmetic surgery. Wonder what that is for?

Sorry! My cynicism is born out of frustration with people who will not see.

I have to say I love Malgus Design. They promise a low cost top class website design.

I clicked on their link and it said Site currently under construction, please fill in form for a consultation.

Surely the first site a design company would work on is making their own the dogs

I know it has nowt to do with aviation but all has been said about their pilot scheme.

Jealous of the lucky one or two who will get it, feel sorry for the hundreds that have lost their money is my view tbh.

Just want to say thanks to everyone for their advice on this - especially monkeyboy and BUDGIE!
I was late for the interview in Birmingham as trains from London Euston were cancelled that morning (they only announced this as I sat on the damn thing waiting for it to leave) but got there in the end and they seemed quite pleased that I managed to get there at all.
Anyway, after a Belbin psychometric test it was about flying basics, logic and common sense. I think I did all right but who knows.
Good luck to all.
