Malgus Interview but have no experience or idea what am doing!!!!!

I signed up for the Malgus thing - it's the first time I have done this kind of thing and I have found myself being called for interview some time in the next 2 weeks. My problem is I have only had my first 2 hours of lessons and don't know anything about what to expect from PARC/Malgus technical and personality interview.....can anyone offer advice on what I shuld be reading up on etc?
Any clues gratefully received

why not take a look at the balpa log, they have some interesting suggestions on interview technique courses. You could probably get a one-to-one if time is tight.:)

If you do a search using the word Malgus you will find 29 items including yours regarding Malgus (Or at least with the word Malgus in it).

I personally dont know anything about it but if you cant get your answers from 29 threads I'd be surprised.

If you dont know how to use the search function scroll to the bottom of the page, bottom right there is a field to populate, type Malgus and then click advanced search, that should bring what you are looking for.

egg, from what I know of previous sponsorship interviews (never made it that far but it didn't stop me preparing!) it'll do you some good to inwardly digest a copy of the Trevor Thom Aircraft Technical book (Number 4 - the yellow one). Obviously, if you've only got 2 hours they're not going to expect you to know too much but at least show some knowledge of the basics: principles of flight, how the engine works etc...

That should do you proud.

Well done for getting this far. There are a lot of sceptics out there with regards to Malgus (myself included) so let us know how you get on & prove us wrong.

If PARC are doing the initial interview then I'd expect it to be conducted as done for the Aer Lingus TEP.
Expect it to be nice in the beginning and kinda about you developing into something more technical. They will tailor the interview initially to your experience and then as they get an idea of your technical knowledge toward aviation (and everyday things) they will progress. So if you've been obsessed with all things aviation since you were five I as an interviewer would of expected you to read books on aviation, if I think you might know how the jet engine works I'll ask - suck, squeeze, bang, blow - and then I might take that further to pressurisation then when you can answer stuff about that I'd push you till you admitted you don't know i.e. if you don't know something don't bullsh!t just say I don't know but I could hazard a guess that....-only guess if it's intelligent! -
I went thru the entire EI scheme system so would say smile lots, laugh - don't joke - and if the interviewer says something you know not to be true then tell em' they're mistaken politely and explain your reasoning - I did, he admitted defeat and laughed....got fast tracked so it done me no harm! - also possibly expect stuff about the weather-why it rains, where do clouds form?. Basically everyday household appliances, car engines etc... 4 stroke versus 2 stroke how's that work?
Go in, be confident, nice, smile, promote yourself and sell yourself and thank em' for their time and tell em' you've had great fun ;)
And if Malgus turns out to be a farce as some people think it might I'd say £140 ain't that bad for the experience of aptitudes and interviews you can expect to come face to face with in the future.

Given that WWW doesn't know me or my profession I'd guess it's the thought of Malgus. Unless of course he feels there is something inherently wrong with my view of the PARC selection procedures and how to go about the selection process?

I just went through their whole website and the deal seems too good to be true.

You only have to pay back half the costs and then only once you start work.

I'm guessing they've cut a good bulk deal with Jerez off the RRP of the course. I didn't see anything mentioning interest rates.

As an ex-CEO it doesn't add up to me. The Present Value of 25k is greater than the (future) value of 25k in five years unless there's an interest payment..

I'm guessing that their recruitment arm takes a kickback from the airline when you get hired and there may be a clause that says you have to take whatever position they can get you into...?

Anyone got the scoop on this?

Reminds me a lot of timeshare style sales. Get them geared up, then hit them with the numbers at the end when they're 'emotionally invested'. 25k over 5 years is a lot out of a Jnr Pilots salary. My guess is that you can convert the loan to a longer term payback with unfavourable interest rates.

They look like a finance company to me with all the other things they are into.

I'm not cynical, I just don't get the feeling they are being up front about all the terms. Hope I'm wrong.

Do the maths thoroughly and get a lawyer to go through the contract - you may be better off with a normal bank loan.

Hiya, i'm hopefully going for the Malgus 1st stage interview in june, I've looked at the Malgus website and at the PARC thing on here, was wondering if someone who's done the Malgus first stage interview could tell me the format of the day..... is there a verbal interview or is it all tests? This is my first post on this forum and I found this forum
very attractive and exciting.
My question is about Malgus Ltd. I'm 19 years old and wish to
become a pilot ( how meny times did you hear this ). I have very-very good knowledge of math and phys. but my mother language is not English ( I'didnt say that I speak English bad ) and I'm affraid of Verbal reasoning test. Can anyone tell me what is included in this test, and how can I prepare for it if I must.
Is there any suggestion what should I read (prepare myself) before tests.

Most things which seem 'too good to be true' are usually neither.

Is Malgus a charity or a moneylender or a lottery operator?
If not, what?

Also Malgus seems to rattle your cage, WWW, so what's the prob?

Wannabes forum has been in through and out the other side on the question of Malgus.

WWW, if the truth was known, is probably fed up to his high teeth with it, and so am I.

Let me give you some figures, if you can't be bothered to read what has been said a million times about Malgus and their fantastic scam/scheme.

They offer ONE person ONE course at BAE in Madrid. All paid for.

ONE course now costs about £60,000. Put that in a calculator.

Divide that by £100 and you have 600. So, therefore, 600 of you put £147 into the pot. Malgus take £47 as their expenses and the other £100 x 600 equals the cost of ONE course. The expenses in Malgus' pocket amounts to £28,200.

The answer? Well work it out for yourself. This is the last time I am doing it. And while you are at it, try to figure out ALL the implications of what this 'offer' means.

It's your money but it would be better spent elsewhere is what we say.

Does anybody know if the people running the scheme are eligable for selection? While they would obviously ensure that the selection procedure was fair and impartial, it would be a novel way of financing the course if they were to be successful.

Captain Airclues - I undertook some time ago that if and when Malgus send someone to BAE (JEREZ - IFR) I would check out the biographical history of the lucky chap/chapess.

I have enough ex-colleagues there to ensure I get the full story.

That way I will be able to scotch any cynical speculation about the scheme being designed to pay for the Nephew of a friend of a friend etc.

I hate cynics you see.
