Smile Atlantic Flight Training - Coventry

Hello. I've been an avid reader for the last 6 months or so but need some up-to-date information that I couldn't find from searching.

Does anyone have any information on Atlantic Flight Training at Coventry? I guess there was some uncertainty earlier in 2010 but they are still there and now with Coventry open I'm seriously considering doing my training with them (finish off PPL, CPL/IR, MCC) - does anyone have any recent experience, good or bad?

When you finish your PPL apply to their sponsorship scheme, if you pass the interview you may get sponsored.

Search AFT it should come up with the thread started last February when myself and other students were given a few hours notice of course ending , four months early and ten exams short , and told to get on our merry way.

Then after sending numerous emails and driving back and forth hundreds of miles seeking legal advice etc we were given our money back , oh and the small matter of sitting four exams in the meantime. I literally had to quote from my solicitor the costs that i would be seeking to get a penny out of them.

We were treat terribly and i for one would not , ever , give them another penny of my money.

Great staff , apart from a certain JD who i would love to meet in a dark alley one day

Some have good experiences some have bad - that's life.

I did my training a few years ago at Halfpenny Green, did some research on here but not much said - so I went to see them and met a great bunch of guys. The Ops Director Paul spent a couple of hours with me and I got the feeling every word was the truth - and as it turned out it was.

The answer is simple - go and see whoever you are considering, see if you get that "I belong here feel" some will, some won't - I went to see AFT in about 2006 and I didn't get that feeling!

Companies change, staff change, facilities change - Paul who I met at HGFC is now at AFT - that can only bring good things!!!! I spoke with him late last year - AFT have ripped themselves down to bear bones and are buidling back up, nearly 30 students confirmed for next year - they seem to be doing something right now!

That would be

Paul Hipkiss.

I only remember it because it is not something you really forget.

I hope I spelled his surname correctly.

Awesome guy and AFT could really do with a better ambience.

I remember when I attended AFT some years back it was full of life. The people back then made it the way it was.

After the take over and Matt left plus a number of superb instructors it didn't seem to fair as well.
