Flying in europe?

Hi! i was wondering if you could help me giving me some explanations about "convalidation stuff"

In a few weeks i ll obtain my CPL here in my country, Argentina. How can i do and how expensive is to convalidate my license in europe? I am not planning to go there just after having my license but the thing is that i really like to travel, i spent the last years travelling and working around other countries and coming to argentina just to fly so i would like to use my pilot career to see and live in other countries. I m planning to go to africa next year with my CPL, ME and IR, but besides africa i would like to know what do i have to do to fly in europe and what do you think? is it really hard and difficult? Is it easy to find a job (or at least not impossible?)?

Well Thank you very much!! this is a great forum!!

Hi there.

This is the short answer, but basically with a CPL you would have to do it all again, the only thing that would count is your flying time. Exams, skill tests, ratings, and medical all have to be done anew.

It is much easier if you already have an ATPL. In that case some/most of the written exams are waived and I believe there is only one practical test to pass. Can't recall the exact rules though.

As for finding a job, it comes down to right place + right time as with everything, but with less than say 500 hr multicrew you're not exactly in a privileged position.

Wallander,

The license is one thing, the right to work is another. That is the hardest thing.
Assuming you have the right to live and work in Europe, then the converting the license is dependant on what license you already hold + hours/types.

I am fortunate in that I hold dual citizenship for Australia and the UK (thus Europe) and have done the conversion.

Good luck, but it's easier once you're experienced.
