Anyone currently training at Moncton Flight College ?

Hi all !

I'd like to gather information about the current situation with training at MFC, especially about JAA courses, since there were lots of recent negative comments about (dis)organisation, delays, overcrowding and so on.

Since there is a new JAA CFI now, I'd like to know whether the situation as improved.

Thanks !

I guess not

I guess not.. hehe..

But I´m probably going there in July, when were you thinking about going there?

Of all the north American schools this one appealed to me the most.

I was planning to (maybe) go there in September... But they are bloody expensive, so if in addition they have huge delays (that means also more living costs)....
My other option is Harv's Air.

Which programme are you going to take ? Which elements trigged your decision to choose MFC ?

Hi sorry or the late reply,

Which programme are you going to take ?
Im going there for the JAA PPL to begin with, then if I like it i will go again for more.

Which elements trigged your decision to choose MFC ?
Generally the training here in Iceland is more expensive or at least the same as MFC but with a lot of delays (My friend has been doing his PPL since June last year and still doesn't even have his solo but its not only weather he has a job also)

I don't mind some delays since im not going to be in a hurry and what i liked was that the school seemed pretty straight forward about pricing, it also has a good fleet and as far as I know has good teachers.

I wish you good luck with deciding what to do.. I personally was going nuts when i was trying to decide which school to choose,

Regards,

Gilli

Moncton

Hi Guys

Thanks for the responses. I plan to take the moular route. I have looked at alot of other school but I keep getting drawn back to Moncton. They seem to be quite up front with their pricing and as mentioned previously their aircraft seem to be relatively up to date. I believe their instructors are very good also. Most of the negative comments i read are about weather which is something they don't have control over.

My plan was to go there for PPL and hours build then to return home and start the ATPL distance learning through bristol gs, then to return to Moncton for the final phase of hous building after the first set of exams. Then return home and study for the final stage of exams. So when i have finished the ATPL's I will have no delay in going back to Moncton to start the CPL, ME & IR.

Does this sound practical to you guys? If not I'd appreciate your advice? What extra time & money should i factor in to complete the PPL.

Again thanks for taking the time to reply

Pjlot,

I wouldn't go to Moncton, they seem like a great school but their prices are very high compared to the UK. I don't mean to moan about them on every post, but they sent me the details and I was shocked at how expensive they are.

I've arranged to do my PPL in a school in the UK for half the price they were offering!

Hello,

MFC is a very good school with very skilled and good instructors. The planes are maintained with a very high safety standard. At the moment I am doing my JAA PPL at MFC. The JAA CFI is a very nice guy who does its uttermost best for his students.

It is true that the weather here can be quiet bad, you need to keep that in mind. But the JAA instructors will always try to fly when the weather gets good enough. At the moment, the JAA program isn't overcrowded at all and normally the availability of the planes is good.

Chris-Squire is long gone from MFC.

MFC

Hi!!
You can complete your Training at MFC in the following manner:

*PPL + Night Rating
*Distance learning ATPL (although if you have the time, Ground school in my opinion is better)!
*Hour Building
*ME-CPL
*Part of your IR (There is a requirement for you to do some hours in the UK by the CAA)
*MCC - I believe is also conducted in the UK with Cabair (Which is in association with MFC)

I have pretty much followed this program myself - all the staff and instructors at MFC are top quality - Questions? PM me
