Naples JAA CPL?
Peeps, I was just perusing Standards Document 31 (as one does on a Friday evening, ahem!) The CPL Modular FTO list shows that Naples AC in Florida now do the JAA CPL. Is this recent? I note that SD31 was revised about three weeks ago.
Cheers

Note to mod: I would have tacked this on the end of the declared Naples thread in the FAQ but seems to have disappeared... :-)

I am sure Naples use to be able too, but didnt they loose their approval to do flight training when the CFI or was it the Head of Training left. That link is for the document last updated in Aug 06. Is there not a more recent one?

CPL Training
The standards Document is upto date. Naples Air Center has been carrying out CPL training since July.
I beleive the training is very good from the people have spoken to.
Check it out if your in the need for your CPL training, it may be worth your while.

Nope there isn't, current SD31 is 3 weeks old. Your info handily ties in with this. I'll investigate the NAC option soon and will report back here.

Naples Training
Hey, after looking at the options I have found a few ways of how I can go about training. UK training costs around £60k for a fATPL but I have just found a way to do it for £30k in the US.
http://www.naples-air-center.com/dev/index.php?view=65
$58,000
or
£29,000
Is there something missing from this course or is it just that cheap... saying cheap I mean 'cheaper' . It looks good to me, just want some opinions on this

No that course is expensive.
You can get your FAA (USA) ratings, PPL, CPL, IR, MULTI for less than £10k including accomodation. Remember you dont need to go to a JAA flight school in the states, you just need to make sure they can issue the M1 visa, which plenty do.
You need to convert the ratings to JAA which will require you to do the ATPL ground school first, that will cost around £10k.
I would do your JAA PPL first and the ATPLS before you go any further.
Budget for around £25k to include exam fees, extra hours, books etc.

Some flight schools are authorised to issue the paperwork (I-20) which enables you to APPLY for a visa. There is no guarantee that a visa will be issued of course.

Thats correct, sorry for my badly explained post.
Some flight schools are authorized to issue the paperwork to apply for visas. There are many flights schools that can issue the M1 application paperword (I-20) there arnt too many that can issue the J-1 or F-1 paperwork.

Has Anybody completed any FAA courses with NAC
I am aware that a few people have had bad experiences here, just
wondering if anybody has managed to complete any FAA courses there & if they were happy with the service.

Currently at Naples as a student as cannot honestly fault them at all?? And have heard nothing but positive feedback from other students??
Honestly cant understand why they get such a bashing on PPrune. Im glad i decided to make up my own mind and check it out myself!
Oh just one problem is that Naples is REALLY expensive place to live so budget for that .. otherwise no probs with the school at all so far!

Hi,
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who is either currently or has recently been to Naples air center for the JAA CPL training.
How did you find the quality of instruction? How many hours/times per day were you flying? Were you allocated one instructor or did you have a few? How long was the course and did you gain a first attempt pass, and finally what was your flying background before you commenced training there?
Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi config-2
I went to Naples in nov 05. What a disaster. They completely broke my heart. I arrived with minimal experience hoping to do my CPL in 4/5 weeks. And left with nothing. But a huge bill.
To add insult to injury they demanded an additional $5 for the photocopy of my training records. These are the kind of people your dealing with.
I'll PM you the full story if you like.

Awww come on now, you must have got a PPL in 4/5weeks even if you didn't get a CPL - unless you are just not cut out for the flying thing! Lots aren't you know!
I'd be interested in the story by PM please!
