Fly In?

I am a bit confused. The fly in is in Kemble or Leicester? What date and what time?
By the way, have you checked if the airfields are open and sell fuel? Some are shut/ reduced service.

Thanks.

rightstuffer 20th December 2000 22:29

AC-DC We're still chatting by e-mail to find a date that suits most people before we flag it up as a thread. Sit tight and watch this space... :)

Rob_L 22nd December 2000 00:33

I think Kemble would be pleased to see you. It says in "Pilot" they're revalidating their FISO ratings on 6-7 and 13-14 January and looking for people to practise on. Could call it the "PPrune guinea-pig bash"

Oh, and there's no landing fees.

Whirlybird 22nd December 2000 03:07

Good idea! OK, who else wants to go to Kemble on Sunday 14th Jan?

I'll wbe there - See if I can bring some of the other chaps as well

Chilli Monster 22nd December 2000 15:43

Whirly

If you make it on the 14th I'll even drive over from Bath to meet up - you can buy me the lunch you owe me after Swansea ;)

Girl Flyday 22nd December 2000 16:04

Whirly... fancy a navigator for the trip??? ;)

AirScream 22nd December 2000 16:19

I'll be there. By road I regret as the collection of aircraft parts in the garage can not yet fly. Also departing from Bath so I'll race ya chillimonster.

AC-DC 22nd December 2000 17:31

O.K. The 14th. What time? How is the food over there? Never been to Kemble.

Genghis the Engineer 23rd December 2000 00:26

Nice place, good bacon sandwich to be had. Fairly complex movements rules, well worth getting a good telephone brief before departing (everything from private FJ to a microlight school there).

G

AirScream 23rd December 2000 01:26

Are there PPL(A) aircraft rentals available at Kemble, thought it was just microlights?

Whirlybird 23rd December 2000 01:36

Girl Flyday,

Yep, you're welcome to come and navigate for me. Then I get to look at the view without getting lost :)

Might make it-acc to wx

Cusco 23rd December 2000 03:16

I'll be there: pretty long way however: depends really on the weather: Day job dictates no chance of getting socked in on Sunday night.

Cya there

I'll try and get to Kemble on the 14th.

They have a website at http://www.kemble.net/airfield.htm

DOC.400 23rd December 2000 16:14

rightstuffer 23rd December 2000 20:02

Girl Flyday 25th December 2000 16:29

Looks like Whirlybird has a navigator then... and I have myself a ride in an R22!!! :) (Beats my usual spamcans hands down!)

See you all there, then!!! :)

BTW... Happy Christmas!!!

Whirlybird 25th December 2000 22:56

This means with any luck we will not fly from Shobdon to Kemble via Birmingham :) :) :)

Rob_L 25th December 2000 23:28

Once overheard a pilot asking a LARS unit for a routing to Birmingham. Couldn't resist pressing the transmit button and suggesting he go via Crewe. Better not suggest this to Whirly....

Anyone else remember that stupid song, or am I the oldest on frequency?

LowNSlow 27th December 2000 13:17

I'll probably still be Cubless on the 14th unless the PFA are really rapid at turning the paperwork around.

Cahliban, any chance of a lift?

Cahlibahn 27th December 2000 13:42

Hi LownSlow, not a problem We'll probably be in an Archer from Elstree or the DR400 from the farm (depending on how wet it is). Give me a call....

skua 27th December 2000 14:35

Hope to come in my DR400, from Rochester. Seats available.

arrow2 27th December 2000 15:36

Sorry cannot make the 14th - I am away for a long weekend, somewhere hopefully a little warmer.

Have fun and will try to make the next one..

Beagler 28th December 2000 00:37

Checked the diary today and I am okay for the 14th, ex Gamston if anyone wants a lift.

Kemble... isn't that the place with the infamous ostrich farm?
We aren't allowed to overfly the farm, it seems that when the place was very active some of these birds being paddocked on old concrete standings had the habit of doing "ostrich type things" when frightened and knocking themselves out! :)

I would be tempted but as an RSPCA supporter it doesn't quite fit my profile

LowNSlow 28th December 2000 13:43

Thanks Cahliban, I'l drop you a line closer to the day.

1.3VStall 31st December 2000 20:49

I'll be there on 14 Jan Wx permitting. Got two spare seats if anyone fancies the short hop over from Oxfordshire (and back!).

Whirlybird 31st December 2000 22:16

FNG 3rd January 2001 15:19

stiknruda 3rd January 2001 17:11

Sorry folk, I'll be introducing myself to Warped Factor at Bourn.

sNr

FNG 3rd January 2001 17:26

Is there something special going on at Bourn that day? Their website was last updated in 1918 so no info there. Haven't been to Bourn since spending a pleasant day circuiting there during training, so might drop in on the way to or from Kemble.

Cahlibahn 3rd January 2001 17:37

The Flyer List are having a Bourn Butty (renowned bacon sarnie plus a new feature - Onion Bhajis) fly-in on the 14th. Last time I looked at
http://www.thehangar.co.uk/bourn/bourn.shtm
there were about a dozen or so aircraft planning on going. Might pop in on way to/from Kemble if time permits.

LowNSlow 3rd January 2001 23:43

Sounds like a good way to kill two birds with one small rock like object.

GulfStreamV 4th January 2001 14:01

Count me in too, Wx Permitting.
