Beagler 5th January 2001 00:19

Any chance of starting at Kemble then going on to the next event?
I was hoping to carry on to Davidstow for the night after the procedings (friends down there) and I don't think that they have any lights and things on their runway.
Will probably have to clear off early afternoon,

Oh dear, I've porked it in spades. The missus has informed me that we are scheduled to be in Glasgow on 13 Jan for a Burns Supper. Kemble on 14 Jan is therefore a non starter for me.

Hope the wx is kind to you all and please let's have another fly in soon, when hopefully I can manage my diary better!

DOC.400 6th January 2001 12:18

I'll be there in the morning.

I think I should be able to make it as well, Wx and Mrs Genghis permitting. Be good to see you again Whirlybird - perhaps we should do a joint bash with that other dubious social club you and I belong to.

Beagler, have you been to Davidstow?. I wouldn't land any aircraft there that I either owned myself, or had any strong desire to use again within a few days. Not wishing to incur the wrath of Chief Pilot or the airfield operator I shall desist from further description in public, but Email me if you want a full and frank opinion.

A and C 7th January 2001 21:41

I will try to make the fly in if tha annual check on the aircraft is done in time.

New Bloke 8th January 2001 02:17

If our plane is back in the air I will try to come to either the Bacon-Butty or the Kemble or maybe try both.

Sorry Whirly, 20 would have been a round number.

Cahlibahn 8th January 2001 13:12

Got to work this morning to find that I will have to be on call next Sunday. So back to 20, Whirly, I'm afraid.

I'm not even going to register interest for the next fly-in - I must be the weakest link

FNG 8th January 2001 15:56

1.3vstall, surely Burns Night is 25th January, so either you are starting exceptionally early, or you will be able to show your bra' and sonsie face at Kemble on the 14th?

rex 8th January 2001 23:55

Skua

Two of us would like to go if you still have room available on the 14th. We live down the road from Rochester. You can mail me if you like.
:)

Just lost another one I'm afraid cos I was going to get a ride with Cahliban. Maybe the PFA will come to the rescue and issue my new Permit on Friday.......

skua 9th January 2001 17:39

Rex,

sorry, got to withdraw. I shall be out of the country, I am afraid. But the next time...

Shame on you! EGTC (Cranfield) should be engraved on every PFA'ers heart, err until we all go to Long Marston one year!

Doesn`t WX mean womens outsize?

Mike W

LowNSlow 10th January 2001 16:03

I've never flown into Cranfield (hangs head in shame) unfortunately. That's my excuse for ignorance and I'm going to stick to it!

AC-DC correction appreciated :). Wx permitting, what time do you want to meet up?

AC-DC 12th January 2001 02:26

L&S
Say 10:45 at Coulson/Cranfield Aero Club. It should take us 25min to Kemble. My better half might come as well.
If there will be a problem I will post here on Saturday Evening. At the moment I am without an Attitude Gyro and the vacum system is in parts, should be done by tomorrow.

LowNSlow 12th January 2001 16:04

AC-DC, that sounds good to me. Are you planning on taking in Bourn as well?

AC-DC 12th January 2001 18:33

I did not think about Bourn, depends if my wife will come as she meets her sister at Kemble.

arrow2 12th January 2001 19:04

Enjoy Kemble on Sunday all who are going - sorry I will not be there - hopefully next time!

Whirlybird 12th January 2001 23:00

I'll be arriving at Kemble about 11.30 with Girl Flyday in an R22. It'll probably be G-MICH, but that could get changed at the last minute.

Hoping to be at Bourn around 10.30ish then onto Kemble for about 13.30
blue & white TB10 G-BHDE

Rob_L 13th January 2001 02:00

Might be a good idea to agree on whether it's Kemble or Bourn first, or there'll be two groups waving to each other as they pass half-way.

mickypitch 13th January 2001 03:11

I am hoping to thrash down to Kemble on Sunday, looking at this thread the AFISO is going to busy!
I will probably be in a G-HFCB a sleek,shiny,hot rod of a cessna 150.
I could live to regret admitting to being the pilot of this desirable machine if I mess up the radio, circuit, landing etc
Perhaps there should be a marks out of ten system for visiting aircraft? (joke)

QNH 1013 13th January 2001 14:05

Weather (Wx) looks good for tomorrow. I have telephoned Kemble this morning and they have confirmed that there is no landing fee tomorrow even thought they finished their training last weekend. One important point is that they were so busy last Sunday with over 300 movements that I'm told that it was only possible to get cups of tea in the cafe.

My plan is to arrive at Kemble late am (wx willing) and fly onto Bourn early pm after meeting other ppruners (pprunes?). It would seem most pprunes are doing Kemble first.

How do we meet each other? Is there a station clock to meet by or do we have to wear the spout from a litre of AD80 in our lapels?

I'll excuse my attire in advance - there is no heating in my aircraft.

QNH1013

ps Is anyone from the Nottingham Chapter going?

Another idea for those flying onto Bourn in the early afternoon - why don't we swap PAX so they have the chance to experience something new (eg hyperthermia) for this leg of the trip?

New Bloke 13th January 2001 14:34

My reading of this is that most are going to Bourn First THEN Kemble. That is certainly what I will be doing.

DOC.400 13th January 2001 15:20

Whoopeeee! JUST enough hours left before check.

Red 'n' white Robin DR400 -G-BRNU.

Hope to be at Kemble in the morning, then back to White Waltham for lunch.

Roast chicken on the menu.....

New Bloke 13th January 2001 17:43

I've just phoned Kemble for a briefing, don't bother, the briefing was "call them on 118.9 about 10 miles before you get there"

They don't know about a fly-in tomorrow either.

This should be FUN

Chilli Monster 13th January 2001 17:55

QNH 1013

There will be someone else from Nottingham there, but unfortuanately travelling by road from Bath as I'm there for the next 7 weeks http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif

QNH 1013 13th January 2001 20:18

New Bloke,
I just phoned Bourn and the chap who answered the phone didn't know anything about a fly-in there either. Looks like both airfields will be surprised !

C.M. - look forward to meeting you

AC-DC et all. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tomorrow RATS, RATS and DOUBLE RATS

AC-DC 13th January 2001 22:56

Oh Dear
That is no good, I just got the O.K for Bourn, Well another time.
However, if you can come post here again and I will check tomorrow morning.

Cusco 13th January 2001 22:58

For various reasons I can only make one of the fly-ins on Sunday>

Bourn is closer so gets my vote.

Another time mebbee Kemble flyers.
