Fly Blackpool - Trial flight lessons at Blackpool Airport

lartsa 4th Aug 2014 20:36

Thank you airforce

MrAverage 5th Aug 2014 07:35

lartsa !!

Did you not read the thread ?

........or perhaps I missed some sarcasm.

cockney steve 5th Aug 2014 09:06

Don'tbe silly,if your "height" was 14 stones, you'd have a problem with reality.
According to my 'puter, ZEN are the hosting Co. "holding" the page in the second link....If you are the owner, please contact them.

Reading between the lines, if you don't pay your bill,Zen will suspend your service!

note:"274 bought"....that's over £ 13 K...and with the T's &C's allowing only one rescheduling.....

Then there's the picture of the pretty white aeroplane, which doesn't look like the Slingsby that the buyers will actually get to ride in (maybe)....just sayin.

lartsa 5th Aug 2014 15:25

Mr average
I have a app on my phone what shows new posts ,I looked at the last page and saw a post from Airforce1 with a link to a groupon buy from blackpool .
I didn't see any sarcasm on his post he said he was still going ,I thought if it was good enough for him I too would go , I took his post as an endorcement
also I am not a fixed wing pilot I don't know specific aircraft shapes /types there was a photo of a plane

Thanks a bunch guys

Unfortunately for you what AirForceNone meant by "Still Going!!" was he was surprised to see the company might still be operating, he hadn't bought anything from Groupon.

270m grass strip in a fully loaded PA28?

Some people never learn. ARC expired on the 27/08. 'Hedging' my bets it's 'ploughing' on regardless. Ooops another illegal flight.

SpannerInTheWerks 1st Sep 2014 16:10

Groupon deal 'no longer available', according to their website.

GPS virtually touching the compass !!??

SpannerInTheWerks 2nd Sep 2014 09:06

GPS virtually touching the compass !!??
I suppose the FlyBpl-type response would be: 'with a GPS who needs a compass?'!

They've always been happy to accept a myriad of other defects - this would be seen as a bonus.

It's a fact of life, no one can stop the murg from troyding at Egnh!

Slightly off topic but, i flew in to egnh a few weeks ago in my ev97 Eurostar from barton which has got me thinking, can anyone explain why the flying schools clubs at egnh are buying used c150's or 152's rather than a rotax powered aircraft eg ev97 Eurostar or similar?

I've moved from Blackpool to barton just because of the cost. The ev97 I now fly burns only 11 l/hr of fuel. The C150/152's at egnh burn double that at 21-22 l/hr and the pa 28's a whopping 35 l/hr. The fuel saving is passed onto the customer which results in very economical & affordable flying.
Question is why are there zero of these aircraft based at Blackpool?

Are you allowed to train for a PPL(A) in a Eurostar or other Microlight?

west lakes 17th Oct 2014 20:12

So what is this lot going to do now?

horatio_b 5th Jan 2015 15:02

Very little sign of any activity at Blackpool for around a year, but the website is now referring to an operation from Halfpenny Green trading as Flightpath UK

If he is locked up and bankrupt I would say yes.

What do you want..finger nails pulled out or maybe transportation.

Serious knife crime offenders only get a few years.

It appears the ISIS poster girl will return with little more than a rap on the knuckles.

QSY1215 21st Feb 2019 17:21

Many will be delighted at the news and no doubt can't wait till the 15th March (sentence date). RM like us all has his faults but having known him and his ways for close on 21 years he is an down to earth decent enough chap-unlike most of the back stabbers on here who can't wait to hit the keyboard. He gave many myself included their early steps into aviation and for that if nothing else I for one will always be grateful.

ak7274 21st Feb 2019 18:20

I am delighted that someone who has flown illegally, endangering the lives of at least 3 others on just this one escapade has been found guilty of such deeds.
I hope he is punished severely for the 7 offences he committed.

How touching!

Notes to editors
  • Robert Murgatroyd (DOB: 19 May 1966) was convicted of the following charges:
    • Endangering the safety of an aircraft
    • Endangering the safety of a person
    • Illegal public Transport
    • Flying otherwise than in accordance with a licence
    • Flying otherwise than in accordance with any conditions/limitations contained in the aircraft flight manual
    • Failure to comply with the insurance regulation
    • Flying without the aircraft flight manual

Midlifec 22nd Feb 2019 07:18

Having dealt with the consequences of previous misdeeds and obfuscations by RM whereby others have died, I can only say that the verdict on these charges is a good one for aviation in general and that the punishment, whatever form it takes, is richly deserved. There are of course others who have been closely involved in his past misdeeds that may even now need to be very nervous. Football agents and some ex airline pilots included.

ETOPS 22nd Feb 2019 16:11

What are the odds, do you think, of him actually turning up on the 15th of March for sentencing?

A former business partner of his owns a light twin...........................just saying :hmm:

robin 22nd Feb 2019 18:46

7 counts this time......;-)

Meester proach 27th Feb 2019 11:47

Sadly, I think we will see more of this situation in the future with things like “ wingly “ which the CAA seems to think is just fine and dandy. And when it happens the daily mail will have a field day.

STENDEC North 1st Mar 2019 19:45

Light twin and what?

ETOPS, which former business partner owns a light twin, and how does that make a difference on the 16th? I’m intrigued.

horatio_b 1st Mar 2019 20:39

A former director of FlyBlackpool Ltd is the owner of an Aztec, according to G-INFO. However, this aircraft has not had a current CofA for several months.

ETOPS 2nd Mar 2019 07:43

Obvious risk of absconding - remand before sentencing would have been sensible in this case.

We shall see on the 15th.

Mike Flynn 2nd Mar 2019 10:07

The CAA really need to get their act together and do their job of protecting the public from these cowboys.

The Barton incident could have easily ended in a major tragedy if that PA28 had crashed on the nearby motorway.

Elsewhere there is the case of the Sala crash and lots of potential for similar incidents with Wingly etc.

Why would anyone want to get an AOC and employ properly trained commercial pilots only to see these unlicensed flyboys
undercut them?

Midlifec 2nd Mar 2019 15:17

RM assisted a well known and currently in the public eye sporting agent to buy a Beech200, perhaps the agent could arrange a flight for him, through a suitable intermediary ‘charter ‘ broker of course 🤔
