I don't think so.

BASA is an agreement negotiated between the EU and the USA. If, on March 29th, the UK decides to stay in the EU, or gets a deadline extension, or gets a soft Brexit which includes EASA membership, they will be subject to the BASA agreements. The good, the bad and the ugly of that agreement. But if they decide on a hard Brexit, the UK has to start all over, negotiating new agreements on just about anything with just about everybody.

As nobody knows at this time what's going to happen on March 29th, you will also find that nobody knows what's going to happen on April 8th.

It's probably not the news you wanted to hear, but you're not the only one who has to deal with a massive uncertainty as to what's going to happen after March 29th.

I've got a UK-issued EASA PPL but live and fly in the Netherlands. Is my license going to be valid after March 29th for flight on a PH-reg? Nobody knows.

If I start the SOLI process today to transfer my license to the Dutch KIWA, will the UK CAA be quick enough so that the process is finished by March 29th? The previous time I did anything remotely complex with the UK CAA, it took me nine months (!) to get everything sorted. And that was before they got swamped with Brexit-related stuff.

And I haven't even started talking about my professional life. If I'm going to the UK to do a job (happens 6-12 times a year), do I need a visa after March 29th? A work permit? How is invoicing going to work? VAT? Will the UK remain in the Single European Payment Area or do we need to do a complicated bank transfer? There's no way anyone can tell, but I already have appointments for April (actually April 1st) in my agenda.

I don't want to start another Brexit thread, but we've got some interesting times ahead.

I actually got through on the phone to the CAA licencing technical dept. today, it wasn't a very productive call. The lady I spoke to said "If your FAA declaration letter says it expires on the 8th April 2019 then thats when it expires and you'll need to re-apply again"
I said well, what if the BASA agreement is not implemented by the 8th April 2019, will my current FAA declaration be automatictly re-newed ? or will I need to begin the whole SRG2140 validation process again ?

At that question she gave out a long sigh and gave up second guessing what the answer may be and told me to direct any questions I have to the licencing team by email....thank you and goodbye !

Not the end of the world I suppose, I'll probably just have to bite the bullet and spend a few £££ by going the Part-FCL conversion route.

Because of the EU exit uncertainty, the DfT will not support a UK derogation application under Regulation EU 2018/1974 Article 2. However, I am assured that an alternative route will be developed, but this will depend upon the EU exit negotiations.

DON'T pester the CAA at this stage - they are aware of the problem and are working on it.
