Navigation Apps
Hello!
I just got my PPL and I would like you to recommend me some good navigation apps, taking into consideration the price and the facilities they offer.
Thank you in advance!

You can get a trial version, view the instruction videos on their website. First class product, works on iOS, Android and Windows. Last week, I had an unplanned flight with a friend, had no equipment with me except my 5" smartphone running Skydemon. Worked fine, normally I recommend 7" or 8" for cockpit use, a 10" tablet is too large.

You are based in Austria and want to go where? The typical VFR-leader-of-the-crowd is actually Skydemon, but there are a lot of follow-uppers you may have a look at. Closed on their heels is Jeppesen MFDVR (and don't forget your backup - I still advice on taking a paper chart as second).

And the award for the most useless reply goes to...........

To the OP:
Sky-Map (note the hyphen) is my app of choice, it's available for iOS and Android. I use it alongside Flight Planner (Flight Planner Homepage).
Sky-Map - planning / GPS navigation on my tablet / iPhone.
Flight Planner - preflight prep inc W&B, Fuel, Start / Landing roll, weather, printing of maps (to ensure I have a back up in case GPS is blocked or some other failure).

Not sure who told you that - the small company managing it is based in Germany, true.
Maps are available all across Europe - I have used it in NL, BE, IT, AT, SI and CH so far myself.
A package includes updating for a year, but the maps remain functional thereafter.
For me the combination with PC-based Flight Planner - with FPLs sent over internet to device taken on flight (phone, tablet, IOS/Android) comes handy. I still prefer to work on a proper sreen with mouse rather than on a 7'' touchscreen.
Also very easy to create a paper backup with overview charts, waypoint chartlets, approach plates, NOTAMS and flight plan form from Flight Planner..
I cannot compare it for functionality and utility with SD for lack of experience, but so far it has served me well.
