Recommendation for EFT Fort Piece needed?

Dear Pilots
I am currently looking at doing my EASA PPL and then doing the FAA PPL at the same time.
EFT in Fort Piece is looking favourable at the moment. I would be grateful if recent students could give me a recommendation for their services please. I am planning to take a month off work to complete the required training I would like to know. Does the school have enough aircraft and instructors? I have previous flight experience and would need to knock out the PPL in a month would this be feasible. I have also read on the forum that this school suffered from some financial problems back in 2008, how is their recent track record?

One other question, from the website it looks as if EFT is geared up for ATP and Commercial pilots. I would be grateful of a recommendation from a student who just did a PPL.

Thank you to those who reply.

I've had a few friends train at EFT and all have said it's been good.

PPLs can be done very quickly as long as the weather stays good. Plenty of aircraft in their fleet. They work weekends too.

Their courses are always booked up, so don't think they're struggling financially. Plus it's all pay as you go. So very little risk of losing your money.

I trained at EFT and would highly recommend them. They offer very good courses and have enough instructors and aircraft available to get you done in a very efficient manner.

You got to work hard though as it will be a very intense program and highly professional .

Time frames are a little bit silly to give yourself as it all depends on your attitude and work ethic plus factors out of yours hands e.g weather. don't put that added pressure upon yourself.

finances is all pay as you go and I had no issues at all with the system.

EFT do many, many PPLs so I am sure other students will pop on here and give you some more advice too.

EFT is a great school. I went to Fort Pierce 2010-2012, and I recommend them!

A big airport and they (used) to charge when the battery was on so most of your air time will be on the ground...!

Other than that (4 years ago) it was great, go early in Jan before all the commercial students turn up....

Almost every flightschool in USA charges you with Hobbs (Basically the battery running). But Fort Pierce is not that large (Only class D-airport), so its much shorter waitingtime there, compared with e.x Daytona Beach (where students had to hold short up to 30 minutes).

I'd say the average time from battery on to takeoff in KFPR is app 10-12 minutes.

10-12 minutes would be good at a small GA airfield in the UK including run ups obviously. It takes a while to taxi up to the hold points of at least two of the runways at KFPR.

Make no mistake, a lot of money is burnt on the ground and that's when it's not busy.....

You log block times, so provided your start ups are efficient, and although admittedly it's not learning time, you can still count most of the time on the ground towards required totals.

I was there in Sept/Oct 2009 and loved it. Would go back tomorrow.

A month is realistic if you are prepared to work. Do some exams prior and then you can solely focus on the flying aspects. I completed training in 20 days with the skills test on day 21 - I went out there with 1 hour logged in the UK.

A job to do or Hoilday ?

A few years back one Florida flight school had a very bad reputation on these pages, a guy I know used the establishment and achived all he needed on time.

His experience was in direct conflict to what you might have gathered from the posts on Pprune. Why ?

He was ex military and had a strong work ethic, did all the preparation that was required and turned up at the airport each morning with a clear head.

Contrast this with the behavior of some of the students who were pubbing & clubbing most nights and did not have there heads in the books, these were the people who made the most noise when they failed to get what they wanted from the training.

Most Flight schools in the USA will give you a very good chance at getting what you want done but you have to meet them half way and put in the study time.
