Dave, it's a Kindle exclusive so there's no way to purchase the ePub. You have to accept a "review copy" as a gift from me.

Blame Amazon!

Just PM me your email address and I'll send you it. A couple of people on PPruNe have checked that format and it seems to have converted just fine.

You Fly Like a Woman

Yes - reaching Gibraltar was a bit odd. It's so long ago I don't remember the exact scenario, but having flown from Faro all along Spain, we had to go out over the ocean to escape Spanish airspace before turning into Gibraltar. Quite un-necessary, but then so are many politicians .

It was interesting that whilst approaching they closed the road across the runway, so the rock was effectively "closed" to anyone except my 172 for a little while. The RAF were running it then, and made us more than welcome. It gave me a taste for PARs too - if ever I can't make a regular approach for any reason, I'd certainly try to find one of these if available nearby. Pity there are less active RAF stations these days.......

I'd love to read it but Amazon only does Kindle versions and I need ePub for my Sony Reader. Seems overly mean to ask for a free version from somebody I don't know .. when I can easiloy afford to pay .... any ideas where I can buy it for Sony ?
Amazon give away Kindle apps
here here
- so you can read Kindle format books on PC, Mac, Android phone, some Blackberrys, Windows Phone 7 and Ipad.

Much appreciated .... have sent you my details.

I saw the Kindle compatability apps whilst I was browsing Amazon ... but I don't have an iPad ... maybe there is a way to make it a PDF via the Windows 7 App ... dunno.

This sounds like an excellent read!

Any mention of pink headsets?

Many happy hours at the University Air Squadron teaching girls to fly. If the sortie report said 'Average', they'd always try to do better next time - whereas the boys would simply spend the night in the pub if they were told they were 'Average'!

However, give a girl a simulated engine failure at 1500 ft and she'd usually make a good fist of a PFL. But give her the same failure at 6000 ft and there'd be 4500 ft of "That's a nice field...but so's that. And that one too.... Hmmm, which one shall I use?"

I used to say afterwards that it was like telling them to go into a shoe shop and come out with the first pair that fits, never mind anything else. Not being rude, just slightly teasing and it helped them to understand that any field fitting the 6S criteria would be fine!

Happy times!!

Kindle App for the PC works really well on Windows - http://www.amazon.co.uk/KindleForPC

Her Indoors might only mind if you don't let her have her own copy?

Lots of pink on the cover, no pink headsets though!

But give her the same failure at 6000 ft and there'd be 4500 ft of "That's a nice field...but so's that. And that one too.... Hmmm, which one shall I use?"
Oh, I see you've read my story already!

Nice to know it isn't just me

My wife would be hit by the train steaming down the track - shall I jump to the left ? no, don't like the colour of the grass on that side, shall I jump to the right, no, there's a cow in that field, shall I jump to the left ? right ? left ? Poww !!

Destination Airport closed - shall I divert to A ? don't like the coffeee there, B ? Don't like the colour of the wallpaper in the Ladies toilet there C ? No spare engine D ? Probably have to hold for an approach. E ? Always have to wait for a vacant gate - Silence. What's that sudden silence ?

Thank you.

The story is actually free on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com for today (1st of Feb) so if you were wondering about it but didn't want to ask, you can get it that way (Kindle format only).

Although the offer still stands, regardless.

The e-book was posted in Forbes with an excerpt so that's been exciting. My mother finally broke down and read it.
