That is what I teach and it has saved my butt more than once

On the subject of 'clear prop', A and C very sensibly pointed out to me that the order of my AFE PA28 checklist:
prime
call 'clear prop'
keys in, operate starter
gives too little time for people to react to the 'clear prop' call, and too much time fiddling around with keys for the primed fuel to drip down and cause an engine fire on start. I've modified it to
call 'clear prop'
identify correct key, keys in, don't turn
prime
immediately operate starter
This gives people 5-10 seconds to react to the 'clear prop' call as well as priming immediately before start.

I did it once, cowling off, car very close to wing, careful not to allow the prop to get tangled up in jump leads, start, run for long enough to start itself, stop, disconnect, refit cowling, move car, re-start (only just). Pain in the ass, not recommended.
In January 1991, we got a jump start for our Jodel DR1050 from the AA at Perth. We had bought it at Bodmin, and were bringing it to Inverness. It enabled the engine to get warmed up before we stopped the engine, replaced the cowling, and handswung it.
