On the subject of 'clear prop', A and C very sensibly pointed out to me that the order of my AFE PA28 checklist:

prime
call 'clear prop'
keys in, operate starter

gives too little time for people to react to the 'clear prop' call, and too much time fiddling around with keys for the primed fuel to drip down and cause an engine fire on start. I've modified it to

call 'clear prop'
identify correct key, keys in, don't turn
prime
immediately operate starter

This gives people 5-10 seconds to react to the 'clear prop' call as well as priming immediately before start.
