Righty Ho Duxford it is.

You are right Flintstone, this is nice and friendly down here and I appologise for loosing my rag. Please let that be the end of that!!!!!
Next week is out for some of us, the week after is 14th and 15th. My personal choice would be the 14th as I don't fancy the full blown airshow (seen enough Spitfires this season) but wouldn't mind seeing some of the practice and the IWM Hangars.

David, it's over to you...(daytime TV getting too much)

Red face

Oh no, not the 14/15th PLEASE
That's about the only weekend I cannot make because I am working all through it in deepest Hampshire and I really would like to go.

Anyway, its going to rain that weekend! And snow. And there'll be fog. That nice John Kettley even mentioned that a plague of locusts was forecast near Duxford for that very weekend......honest.

Wot about any weekend after that......(pretty please....)

PS Or was it a plague of frogs.....

How about the weekend after 21st/22nd.

John Ketley tells me the locust swarm will have moved further East by then.

Weekend of Oct 21st/22nd is OK for me, New Bloke.

Though maybe you should all just forget about me, as the chances of the weather being good enough to fly from Shobdon to Duxford in late October are...well, not worth placing bets on anyway. Or maybe it isn't as far as I think ; I haven't looked at a map for a while. That, PA38, is a joke by the way. Talking of which, it should have been PA38 who apologised, not you, New Bloke, you didn't do anything...oh, well, enough of all that anyway.

Shobdon to Duxford 111.3nm 1h 14 mins

Duxford - w/e 20/21 sounds good, I've been in a coupe of times this year already so should be able to find it!

It's just 25 mins for me, too as opposed to 1h12 for Sherburn!!

New Bloke,

You're right; I just checked. And I don't have to route around the Pennines, which I was expecting to do to get to Sherburn. So as the R22 flies it's actually about 8 miles closer, and should be about an hour and a half's flight (R22s will do 90 kts, but are happier with 80 - well, I am anyway). OK, count me in!

So it came to pass that the next (first?) well anyway, a fly in will be Saturday 21st Oct 2000.

No bottle of wine this time, oh okay, a lovely bottle of WHITE Bergerac to the best suggestion of who I can give a bottle of this bl00dy stuff too.
Still trying to get rid of it....

Okey Dokey,

I have just spoken to Duxford, they would like some idea of numbers so they can work out how much to discount our landing fees by. The more the merrier so if you intend to come, please could all let me know.
We will need to PPR, so anyone going please E-Mail me with their details, I will E-mail back with the number to call. (they didn't want it put on the web site)
The cost of the IWM is £7.40 for adults.
I have booked for Sat 21st with a fall-back day of Sun 22nd (who says I don't learn my lessons)
There are restaurants on site
Look forward to seeing you all there. As a matter of courtesy, if anyone who knows Danny or the admin/moderator guys, would they please drop them a line asking them if they want to come.

Hmmm, not sure if I'm up for the 2.5nm flight to Duxford from Fowlmere. Especially as I have to drive past Duxford to get to Fowlmere :-) .

Still, I might just drive, and meet you all there.

OTOH, If theres a prize for the shortest flight?

I work at Duxford (Fighter Collection Volunteer) looking after the Grumman Bearcat (in hangar 3 at the moment). I should be there on Sunday 21 Oct. If you can find me, I might (repeat - might) be able to get some of you into the cockpit of the old girl. Just ask in hangar two for the matronly wench with the long brown hair who loves the F2F. They'll know who you mean.
