Don't know if anyone has mentioned it (can't be arsed flogging back through the thread) but Fadmoor just north of Kirkbymoorside in N'Yorks has a pub about 20 minutes walk away The Royal Oak Inn. Have flown into Fad which is a farm where you park amongst the roaming turkeys and other miscellaneous farm stuff. Was that impressed with the pub I've booked three nights there later this month.
Fadmoor is interesting as it is situated on the crest of quite a steep hill so all runways go up, or down depending on your inclination...but it's perfectly doable. Just don't expect to be level on any part of the runway or taxiways...
Edit: It's actually about a mile, so 20 minutes if you meander and 12 minutes if you march like me.
Also to add another airfield Crosland Moor (Huddersfield International, another interesting approach....) has a pub at the other end of the runway and Boston has an actual restaurant at the end of its runway.

Well it's been a while and I think we all know why......bloody weather.
But we did finnaly get to fly in to a grass strip this weekend. We went to Croft Farm...yes we have been there once or twice before! Thankfuly it has dried out a bit in the last week. But you still need to call first.....
So lets kick this thread off again and hope for more weather like the weekend.
Please keep adding strips and pubs the more the better...
cheers
Damien

Went to Rosemarket last year, very interesting, never landed on a par 5 before!
Incidentally although not a grass strip I can thoroughly recommend Kirkbride and the White Heather hotel which is five minutes walk. Food is very good.

Cheddington...
.....what a great little strip.
For many reason's, the Hinton Boy's have not been anywhere new this year. Until yesterday, we took advantage of the great weather and 5 of use went to Cheddington. Great place, great welcome. Even got a life to the pub...thanks. Do like there club house!
PPR needed as you will need a quick brief on the approaches.

I think our paths may have crossed yesterday around midday TP. I was heading north towards Silverstone when I noticed a yellow Cub flying alongside a biplane which passed behind me.
Keyston was still operational in August, and so was The Pheasant. The rumour from locals in the pub was that consideration was being given to abolishing the strip, which they did not want to see happen. One can only hope this was nothing more than a rumour.

Orange Grove/Chavenage Airstrip Nr Tetbury
It is in my old Lockyears Farmstrip guide.Strip Grass08/26 (550x20mtr). The strip is a real gem for light aircraft,so peaceful and secluded. One would have to get a taxi in to Tetbury or to "The Gumstool Inn part of Calcot Manor Hotel, very nice for a week end break treat ." The strip is on the Chavenage House Estate, Google Chavenage House. Sorry if this is all old hat.

I'll second Tupperware's rec of Gt Massingham. Went there yesterday and what a beautiful little village. Counted three duck ponds and at least two village greens. The church which was surprisingly open is well worth a visit too. The local pub (Dabbling Duck) is excellent. Food was delicious. Highly rec.
I shall return.
