Perhaps you'd explain what I ain't doing right please.

hello mike. just click on the blue line. The distance of the line appears on the pane on the left

I went to bembridge I.O.W last week. Here is a video showing the trip + the pub walk

Absolutely fantastic day. The owner of the Wonky cafe is mega friendly and if he can get more aviators to turn up during winter he will keep it open en extra month till christmas

Laddingford farm strip near Paddock Wood. 20 mins walk along a country lane lined with blackberry bushes to the Chequers Inn in Laddingford. Everyone very friendly, excellent food, large beer garden.

Sorry to bump a thread that's a couple of months old now but this has jolted my memory somewhat, that I quickly created a site a year or so ago now with different grass airstrips and some basic info/contact details as a resource.

Would people find helpful? If so will dedicate some time to update

aerodromes.net - The Online Airfield Database

Lambley near Nottingham if still open, walk 10 mins down the hill with a couple of pubs in the village. Weybourne, Muckleborough museum not sure if you can get a beer but a good cafe. Lundy, Marisco tavern, the strip is not for the inexperienced but fab place to go.

I noted on this site a long time ago a thread advocating landing on the beach at Arlingham on the River Severn.

Not to be recommended - the Severn Bore comes in very fast and can be plus or minus half an hour depending on wind and tide. Even an amphibian was washed away a few years ago !!

The pub though is great for car drivers :>)
