Hard to beat one of Brendan's finest Bambi burgers at the Glenforsa Hotel, about 30 yards from the Glenforsa (Mull) airstrip. Not a bad place for a overnight too!

Rochester in north kent has a hotel next to the airport and a pretty nice pub called 'The Tiger moth' just over the road. Its not too far from Chatham & Rochester town centre neither, 5 minutes in a taxi, or 10 in a bus from outside the airfield. -Infact, Maidstone is also only 10 min taxi in the opposite direction (taxi cab i mean, i don't recommend taxiing 7 miles down the dual carriage way lol).
Defo worth ringing the Rochester FISO before departing tho, even if weather says its perfect VFR! as the river medway, 400ft down to the side of the airfield likes chucking mist up making conditions very much IMC.

Good Mornign All,
We went to Benington a couplel of weeks ago. Nice little strip. VERY PPR, but Harry is very helpful.
Photo to follow latter as I'm stuck using IE!!!!!
Also went to Croft Farm (Defford) this weekend and stayed at The Oak Inn, had a great night, great food and service, and a very nice breakfast in the morning. The annual fly in at Croft is 14th July this year. Always a good turn out.

There looks like a nice pub just up the road from it and we would like to visit...

I have asked my father who owns/operates the strip and he isn't sure, he does know that they have had a Dragon Rapide into there though!
I will do a bit more digging as I would like to fly the Rallye into there as it would be handy for going to see the parentals, if you find anything out please let me know!!

Pub near the airfield
Just thought I would add my home strip to the list not sure how to do that if someone could let me know. It is Firs Farm, just north of J13 of the M4 near Newbury. A quiet grass strip 06/24 650m and always dry. The Stag is about a 10 or 15 min walk, turn right out of the farm yard then after about 300 meters first left and follow your nose to Lechampstead and the Stag. Its a friendly pub with good food. Give me a call if you want and I can give you a brief and put you in touch with Nigel the farmer for PPR.

Just got back from Great Massingham. It's in the guides (PPR) and it's worth a call to Marham on the way in. The runway is in reasonable condition and you park near the green hangar. A short walk through the fields on a marked path leads you to Great Massingham, which is a lovely village. The Dabbling Duck is a would-be gastro pub but the food is good and quite reasonably priced.

Now that summer is here we got together and went for lunch. Today we went to Firs Farm, (thanks to Pete for the information etc). Nice little strip, friendly and well kept.
The Stag in Lechampstead is a really great pub the food was great, The pies are very good!
Well worth a visit, but PPR is needed.
Cheers

I remember seeing this thread before and thought I might add a couple of destinations myself (although just the one for now).
It's "Wallis International", approximately 5 miles east of Peterborough and on the edge of the town of Whittlesey. It's not on the half mil but does appear in the AFE guide.
RWY06/24 with 850m of decent grass, although I'd say only about 650m of that is usable on approach to RWY06 due to the tall trees and obstacles on final approach which you need to stay clear of.
The white building just to the right of the final approach track is a pub, literally 3 minutes walk from the farm house. The first 150m or so of the runway is not visible here as it's tucked behind the trees.
Parking space is very tight, you pretty much have to stick it in the farmer's back garden!
Well worth a visit, strictly PPR especially with the lack of space.

These photos were taken in May 2012, and whilst we didn't visit the pub the beer garden by the river appeared to be full and the airfield owner recommended a visit. He said it was no more than a 2-3 minute walk and was willing to let us out the front of the his house on to the street.
