More media coverage of some drunken, thuggish liverpudlian footballer who swung punches at a DJ than something inspiring and exciting like the recreation of Bleriot's flight 100 years ago.

Well how did it go then? I haven't heard or seen anything on the news at all today.
Meedja seems more interested in some unimportant political cack in Norwich, an immature TV presenter referring to the Prime Minister as a part of the female anatomy and some irritating little Scouse git acting a hard man in a nightclub somewhere. Important stuff eh

Well how did it go then? I haven't heard or seen anything on the news at all today.
The Tiger Clug Turbulents flew but curtailed their show due strong winds and turbulence.
The Air Race appeared to be late (at least 30 mins) so the Stearman got airborne and started his routine. The Air Racers arrived mob handed in the middle of it and he had to dissapear...mm. Commentator was accidentally heard saying this is getting silly.
Other Bleriots due at 1800 cancelled due Wx.
Less than 5 mins before Red Arrows and Patriole de France (Sp) were due a lone microlite was seen circling Dover Castle at about 1000 ft...Oh dear...
Didnt see any other microlights at all.
All told a sad dissapointment.

PS They did reduce entrance fees due to lack of attending aircraft

The air race started bang on time. The problem arose because the slowest aircraft which went first was a Eurostar. The next aircraft, an AA1, took off almost twenty minutes later. The last aircraft, a Baron, started at +37:28.
We saw the Stearman coming towards us and wondered why he was in the air.
Shame the strong winds ruined things, there was a lot of turbulence at Dover.

Nice photos RD
A pity about the weather though. There was a brief bit right at the end of the BBC1 10 o'clock news last night but that was it; a shame that more interest wasn't shown in the event.

Bleriot weekend
A disappointment for most maybe, but at Waldershare Park, we at Channel Gliding Club hosted a number of visitors to the event and had a great time. Highlights included a pair of Klemm WW2 trainers from Sweden overnighting, as well as the Stearman dropping in on Sunday afternoon. A great bunch of visitors from Scandinavia stayed on Friday and Saturday nights and were introduced to Shepherd Neame bitter before setting off in convoy across the channel last night. Hopeful of getting a few pics in due course. Sadly, Waldershare does not usually have permission for power, so a repetition is likely to be a long time coming.....
