Vajnory Batislava

I flew from this airfield back in 2003, its 2 miles north of the international. I am going to Bratislava on business on the 7th September and the problem is i heard a rumour that this field is now closed, anyone know for sure? Its still possible to see it on Google Earth, but i am not sure how old these images are? I remember the pilot i flew with said he flew an AN2 to WhiteWaltham, so any one there know what the current situation is? I would like to get some time in whilst ther, it was about £25.oo/hr in a Zlin 242 last time and we are talking airborn time Or even a phone number for the club? Thanks in advance chaps. Sorry for the deliberate mistake in the title.

Angry

Dont know if its open still, but i remember the pilot who brought the AN2 in to WW. Big chap who put me in the mind of Terry Waite but a bit younger. This link seems to suggest that the airfield is destined to be developed http://www.austriantrade.org/slovaki...448e0cd380/en/ Hope you get to fly whilst there piston, good luck.

LZVB still appears in the Slovakian AIP, but in the AD4 (VFR) section which is not on the EAD. If you call the UK AIS foreign library, they might be able to help.

You could also buy a copy from the Slovakian AIS for about £40, but it would be a shame to do that and read that LZVB was not available to visiting aircraft!

Thanks bookworm, most helpfull. But looking at the link from pumper_bob it would seem the developers have gotten there first Different country, same story!! I will let you know what the status of the place is when i return If it is closed it will be a great shame as a Zlin with a Walther engine at £25/hr wet was a dream come true! And the place was very friendly. Still looking on my Nav Box it seems i wont have to drive too far to find another GA field if i have to! Safe flying one and all.
