How very true big man! As the RMT have ALL our names and addresses wouldn't you think a letter maybe stating that some sort of interest had been shown in the club, maybe not who but at least keeping us half up to date would be something.
Not sure of the exact details but I believe Martin Ballinger was approached by some of the members who were involved in running the club at one time with regard to running the flying side of things should his proposal be accepted - this approach was apparently dismissed - I was told of this by "airside ops" whilst I was photographing, how did they know that??!!
Cheers all.

PS. Speedtape - Ahhhhhhhhh, makes sense - cheers!

Any more news?
I was at Eshott today and everyone seems to think there are still 4 bids in with a chance.
Is this just old news...or has something happened I'm not aware of?

Impounded Aircraft
Just to throw a spanner in the works:
1. The Aeroclub is still technically trading.
2. The only reason it is not flying now is because its aircraft are either impounded or stripped for maintenance.
So:
Did any benevolent person think of just paying off the landing fee debts of circa £41,000.00 and getting the place flying again? Come to think of it, it might have been possible to secure that amount as a charge against the aircraft. That would minimise the risk if it all went wrong.

MetOffice - OK mate? I'll be honest, I thought that the club wasn't trading once placed into administration taking into account what you state?
Myself and others explored the exact avenue you mention but after speaking to the necessary people found it was a total non runner - shame...
Oh well, next week then (again)
Cheers all.

I do hope the aero club stays and survives. I've always enjoyed watching the landings from the small aircraft at the airport, if it goes, it will be a huge miss. Surely, the airport and aero club can survive together.

NAC (is definatly) NACT (no update only down)
Hi flyers,
Sorry about the late contact, I have been drowning my sorrows.
Topjet; comunicating with administrators was delt with earlier in the thread. But also consider not financially possible re- already in debt and not cost effective. However if there had been a group of general members elected/delegated to assist administrators in managing the process they may well have been party to some relevent information that they could then have shared.
Met office ;- my understanding is the aero club is technically tradeing via the administrators and therfore costs/debts continue to rise re standing charges & leases etc. I assume they will take whatever money comes in from unpaid invoices & new memberships etc. I think the main reason unable to fly is airport debt not paid and credit facility they offered is no longer available for justifiable reasons. I think technically speaking the organisation can not legally operate its activities without the directors/Management in office.
Paying the amount required to the airport (ie, minimum amount to resume flying) was also my first approach but others who were owed money were also involved & were making demands.
However as mentioned above had a delegated members group been operating it may have been possible to pay the airport debt and keep flying with advance payments (airport officer seemed ok On this) while the admin process continued to market the club as a going concirn. JC indicated there were substantial bookings for lessons etc. any income therby reducing the debt.
Current position re the Charitable Trust option. It was given until yesterday to collate finances & finalise terms with the airport.
The one remaining hope was the airport/local authority board meeting.I did not receive any feedback about what happened so I assumed a negative response. If it did manage to get addressed as an additional item the board may have come up with an alternative business solution.
The charitable option initiated by me technically died yesterday, as I was not in a position to complete.
I feel I did all I could to help save my Local Aero Club, which was the oldest in the country. I sincerely hope future owners of its component parts continue the activities & oportunities it provided.
My final suggestion for flyers in the region is that lessons are learnt from this experience to protect the future interests of clubs general members.
Suggestion;- Take action to prevent the same happening to other clubs in the region. Form/support a regional group of the national private flying organisations. Devise a regional development stratagy to support each other & ensure growth for your activities.
Best wishes for the future
Hope 2 fly
Roger & out.

Better be quick though if you want to revalidate your licences because J.C. 's and Keith Listers examiners ratings are only valid on the basis of Newcastle Aero Club as I understand it. If no Newcastle Aero Club exists, then their ratings are not valid.

NCL_RAMPIE. Another good point mate, wasn't aware of that one - I will speak to JC later and ask him to clarify that and I will post something so everybody knows what's what, although I don't understand how an examiners rating would become invalid on the basis of the club not currently operating - perhaps the RMT might know.... or maybe not...
BigStu. Congratulations on your "internet" dating! She looks nice but I think a little old for you, and how much botox mate? I still prefer the "close contact in shops" method....
Cheers

Nah examiners ratings are for an individual. You don't have to even tell the CAA which school you intend to test at when you apply. After you have it you can work in any area of the UK. This may get the backs up of the local examiners but there is nothing they can do.
IF the examiners are listed for LPC/OPC on a A to A AOC theye can only do the LPC/OPC's for that AOC. They would have to get further approval if they wanted to do tests for another AOC.
