The PFA? not the Professional Footballers Association
The PFA Rally thread has drawn comment on the PFA in general, it is a members organisation, the committees' are volunteers. If you feel so strongly that it is going in the wrong direction why not attend the AGM to give some constructive advice or get involved.

That is a very valid point.
But:
Do you think that they will listen better than what past experience suggests (am referring to the virtual total absence of communication with people making valid comments on BBs not just here but even on their own website and then even on the one which suggests that one can communicate directly with the CEO)
and as for the 'if you don't like it the way we do it, do it yourself argument' it may well be that there is quite a bit of work to do if, as transpires today when I am having lunch with two other mates/PFA members they can not even administrate the renewals of memberships correctly.
Won't bore you with the details but it is yet another example that things are not at all well.

The AGM is not the place for either of the activities you mention. Discussion last year was strictly limited to the agenda items, which is probably the only way you could get through it.
I did attend last year and I did speak.
Incidentally don't get fixated on the Professional Footballers Association.

FD,
Quite correct about the admin, my direct debit was taken and membership renewed but I didn't find out until I attended the rally and found my new membership card hadn't been sent !

Their admin can not be very accurate.
To register on their website one has to submit one's membership number.
At the time I could not find my card and thought I could remember it so filled that one out.
I got notification that I was accepted and have been reading their website and occasionally posting.
With the Rally I thought I would get my card out and much to my surprise I see that the number I quoted is not the one I submitted.
I take it that they did check that I was actually a member and just subbed me for that but something niggles me that they may well not have done so, in which case anybody could have just subbed in my name.
Food for thought.

Ah but FD your not yet a ***** star member.
If they would let me on I would vote for you
And Mike C you could loose a couple of stars if you continue with your comments.
Who the hell thought up this star member thing anyway.

Are you still banned over the inspector issue TonyR? I would have thought that the powers-that-be in the PFA might have let you back on again by now..............

CENSORSHIP
And get their posting censored?!!!!!!
Come on!
Read the postings, some people don't even get a look in!
That's what PPrune was formed for, to give an open forum.
Moderators on the PFA BB would delete some of the comments in an instant, prefering to believe nothing is wrong!

Three threads running on the same subject at the moment most surely qualify as a surplus!

I sold my PFA aircraft this year and did not renew my membership.
I was discusted at the way they treated the inspector involved in the court case.
I beleive that he has now been re-instated, but just to dump him like that when he needed support seemed very unfair.
I am a member of the BMAA and hope to buy a microlight and just rent to keep my 'A' licence.
The BMAA seem to be a great association, very helpful and friendly.
The last straw for me was the PFA CEO wanting to take over the BMAA, but he might find things going the other way.
I can't see me joining the PFA again until things change.

Why is the BB a closed shop anyway?
If the management had answered the questions put to them last year instead of removing threads etc. things would never have gone so far on the BB.
It's still this "if you don't like what we do then F... OFF" attitude.
Can you tell us how many members left last year?
I know of at least 20 that did not renew. I know of 3 out of a 4 person group who left because they did not want to be forced to join with this new group rule.
The British (and Irish) are a bit funny, if you tell us "YOU MUST DO" we usually say no. If you charge too much we just don't buy.
Please explain this to the PFA management

John Dean,
Would you please take personal responsibility for ensuring that ALL members of the EC and the NC have a copy of this and the other relevant threads on PPRuNe and the PFA BB. They give no indication that they are even aware that BBs exist let alone what is said on them. (There are exceptions, I know.)
Unless someone stops them, they are heading for a foot shooting session.
