Coventry Fly-In, Sat 03rd April.

Here we go. Coventry was the winner in the vote, it got 26.
Sat 03rd April also got the nod with 13 votes. (closest to that was 8 votes.)
Any ideas what to do/see/eat etc.?

Cool

A good oppourtunity for me to nip home for the weekend!

Anyone heading up from the South West would love to hitch a lift...I know the locale and lunch is on me!

The Mill has to be the place for lunch, and is no more than a 15 minute walk or less than a minute or so if a minibus could be arranged!

The Coventry-based fleet is fairly impressive with the Atlantique classics, and the Air Museum is well worth a look.

I'll second M's comments on Air Atlantique, the Midland Air Museum, and The Mill, but don't forget The Oak. I haven't used it for a couple of years, but it used to be quite good, and not as expensive as the Mill - that's not guaranteed, now, of course. It's near the old entrance to the airfield (a couple of hundred metres to the south west of the 05 threshold), which is probably the same distance from the new entrance as The Mill is now.

BTW, watch what you say in The Mill, walls have ears - my niece works behind the bar

Airbedane - The last time I went to the Oak for more than a post-flight orange juice, I was less than impressed. The Mill is pretty good and there's plenty of space. It's part of the Chef and Brewer chain, for those that know of it. If anyone wants overnight accommodation, the Glengary is at the end of the runway and does a good B&B.

Big advantage for the Mill.. Mobile phone reception in there is appalling

Whoever is organising this event, if you would like to PM me, I have a contact up at Air Atlantique (I used to work there) may be able to help with your "What to do / see" question.

Have fun!!

Mmm.... nice bacon butties too.
I should be able to give a guided tour of the museum too, if I can remember it all. It's been a few years since I was a volunteer.

I have made a note in the diary.

It's only a stone's throw from home so will drive in.

Has anyone started a 'registration page' on the 'The Hangar' website?

Thanks for the 'heads up' on The Oak, AerBabe. Having thought about it, I last went there with my father, and we buried him in Baginton Church Yard in 1995............doesn't time fly!

BTW, he, Dad that is, was also a volunteer at the MAM; loved showing people round the Vulcan. Were you there at the same time? You'd know him as Frank if you were.
